I used to worry about everything! I think Betty and I would be going head to head for the Queen of worry contest! But, I have finally come to realize that worrying only gives credence and power to the negative things, so now I try very hard to constantly see the great outcome I am looking for. I say try, because worrying is a habit that is totally ingrained, and it takes time and lots of 'scooping' out of the old. You have to constantly (at first) concentrate on what good can come of any situation, and when the bad slides in, notice it fast and nip it in the bud! Now I find the bad scenarios slip fast through my mind, and then I smile at all the good things I see happening instead. Less tums!!! Sure I am.. Hugs Betty. I was 50 years old when I finally figured out that worrying justs makes you stress out. I still have to make a concious effort, but I think if I still allowed worry to run my life I would probably be dead of a heart attack by now. With being unemployed for a year with a son to take care of, and of course all the money worries, along with my other children having issues in their lives,my toes would be tickling daisies. Of course, laughter helps, and you have a great personality and sense of humor, so I know that helps alot! Everytime something bad happens, force yourself to see something good about it, or how you could turn it into a story to make others laugh. That helps. Yes, I also started asking myself, will this matter next week, month, or year? that puts things in perspective for me and stops the angst. Thanks Deli Hmmmm...maybe thinking about whether it would matter or not is a good way of doing it! I just always think, I know that I always get what I want or need, so there are no worries. As for my kids!!!! well, my son can go for his driving permit this year, and I am already clutching my heart and hyper ventalating...hahahahaha. And I don't want to discuss my daughter's new marriage. Sighhhh |

I worried about my kids for long enough.
All are over 30 & if they can't handle life by now, time they learned. I am here if they need me or my thoughts. All I can do. |

Thats a good point Don.
But I still worry about them and always will, not on an everyday basis cause they are both very grounded. But when they get sick or go away ,I worry like crazy. |

Betty, does all that worrying do you any good? I have MANY, MANY concerns. I do what I can, as I can. If I allow these concerns to run my life, I would never get anything done. What is that prayer of acceptance? Something about "change what I can & accept what I can't?" Just a thought. It doesn't do a bit of good Don. And usually it goes unappreciated as well. So you all are right! With the exception of my kids I will do my best to "knock it off" Cause you are right! But asking me not to worry about my kids is like telling me not to breathe! |

Andf it seems the older they get the more we do But to be honest my girls don't give me a lot of reason to worry about them. But when I do they are very much worth it. |
