in a little restaurant/truck stop this morning, I overheard a waitress telling her co worker that she had gone on her last date for a while. According to her, chivalry is dead. I know it's not in my world...how bout yours?

chivalry is very much alive, although it's far and few between. their are good guys out there that know how to treat a lady..just gotta be patient

Chivalry is not dead. I see it many times a day. I also see a lot of rude and foul guys, but many polite and chivalrous ones as well.

I work with several different deputies. They will pick me up in the evening and we go to our Neighborhood Watch meetings. Then he brings me back to the office where my car is parked so I can go home. Most of the deputies would simply stop, let me out and drive away without even waiting for me to get in my car. However, one always waited and would even get out to help me put my stuff in the car. One day I was going on and on to my co-workers about how wonderful I thought it was that he did this. Very chivalrous.

Well, this got back to the other deputies and all of sudden they all started doing it. And, they quit texting to have me come out to meet them in the parking lot and started coming in to get me. I thought it was interesting how a little peer pressure worked in this situation.

I can do nothing to help the bereft waitress, nor any of the other poor folks who feel cheated by others. However, I am someone who long ago vowed to become a man of honor and principle, regardless of the cost to me, or of the fact that it meant that most of the women I knew (including those bemoaning the death of chivalry) ran off with the worst jerk-wad they could find.
Thus I can say for certain that chivalry is NOT dead, at least not in the form described (I have not actually been knighted, nor do I perform classic knightly duties to a lord), as it is alive and well in me.

I don't care for chivalry, I like opening my own doors and all that.

Is chivalry dead? No it isn't, it's just a flesh wound. Have at you! Come back here, I'll bite your legs off!
