Yes Haiti needs aid and fast.
But there also needs to be security there also. Without it there would be more looting and fighting amongst the hatians and against the aid workers.

Where does this guy think it's going to come from? I don't see france taking charge and sending in troops to provide security.

If the US hadn't went ahead and taken charge of the airport things would prob be 10 times worse than they are now.

It's not a time to bicker over who is running things, it's time to get siht done over there and that's what the US is doing.

Maybe France should just take over evrthing over there and the US should pull out. The French are the ones that Fcuked things up over there in the first place!!!!!!

I heard about that on NPR today. They said that other countries are trying to distance themselves from France because they disapprove of what they are saying.

Even the President of France is backing the US efforts.
I wonder what this idot is thinking.

NPR said that other countries thought that it made sense that we would be in charge. We are the closest country physically to Haiti and could get there sooner. We have better equipment too. We also have a history with Haiti.

Hummmm well in the first place Americans had full permission in order to control what airport they had left. In order for us to in to bring supplies. Heck the way it was if someone had not taken over and brought in equipment in order to control the traffic it would have been a totally disaster.


My gawd they have enough to worry about already no knowing how many more are under the rubble and how many more will die due to the conditions.

Funny I have not heard of France donating as much money as the ones from the US. Think about it just buy texting in and donating $10 at a time the US has already just by that method only way over 20 million dollars that is a lot of people texting......

I think people want us to do the job....but the way THEY want us too.

One reason that the airports are restricted is because of the fuel. There isn't as much fuel to refuel the incoming planes.

What the hell does that have to do with helping peole devistated from a natural disaster?

This is a little off topic but aircraft loaded and flown from the US full of supplies ( water, food, and basic medical supplies) should have been air dropped by day 2. It just takes too much time to run all that through one airport and then distribute. The military ended up doing that anyway.

As for the OP, the US is always first in aid but last in respect.

The statement from some that it looks that way could come from reports like this.

Faster yet is the system used for Berlin drops. Hug tarmac, slide supplies out cargo door and gain altitude.

This whole situation stinks. It does little or no good to take supplies and park them miles and miles away from where the people need them can access them. Makes the USA look like a bunch of idiots. Get the supplies in the same way they did all the emergency teams and the press.

France had a real golden opportunity to make nice with the U.S. and undo some of the PR damage against them for their policies with the U.S. during the war in Iraq. But alas, the French were the French, again.

You can't just airdrop supplies in anywhere!
If they would the Haitians would just raid the supplies and nothing would get to where it needs to go.
Order and security need to be established otherwise nothing can get acccomplihed.
