If anyone is still reading these, I'd love to hear what you consider to be great books to read on Witchcraft.
Of course, on the top of my list are all the books by Scott Cunningham and Christoper Penczak. But, there are lots of good books out there and I get many requests from people wanting to know where to start when studying. So, list what you like here. |

Mastering Witchcraft by Paul Huson
More of a book on sorcery. I liked this one. It's been a long time since I read it and I think it's out of print. I don't have my copy anymore. |

If you want to explore Hoodoo, which I did and found quite valuable, check out this website:
www.luckymojo.com Most of Catherine's writings are available there for free. She has an excellent book you can get on Amazon called Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic by Catherine Yronwode. She also has an online course you can take and the book that comes with that is awesome. Disclaimer: I had a bit of a run in with Catherine because I signed up and paid for her course with no intention of doing the homework. I paid for the class, bought my book and learned what I wanted to learn. She took great offense at this (I meant no offense) and expelled me from her online class. Subsequently, there is now an agreement you must sign, I believe, to do the homework if you wish to enroll in the class. She didn't previously require this. In my opinion, she is a little "off" and very emotional. However, she knows her Hoodoo and if you want to learn she is the best source. |

I used to have a lot of Scott Cunningham's books, but I lost them all. Ly de Angeles is a pretty good author, too. Have you read anything by her?

No, but I've seen books by her...Theory and Practice of Witchcraft or something like that. You liked her? I'll have to take a look at it.

Yeah, that's the one I have. I like the visualizations she uses. That's what I liked most about Cunningham's books, sometimes I need to imagine a happy place.

The Master Book of Herbalism by Paul Beyerl.
Awesome book, although not enough herbs listed. But, since he is giving traditional medicinal information on each herb as well as magical information it would be too long if he added more herbs. |

Exploring Scrying by Ambrose Hawk. I'm really liking this book. It's much more than I ever thought I'd look into, but I'm really learning a lot.

So I just realized that Abrose Hawk is on a yahoo group that I belong to and that he is the same Ambrose Hawk who wrote the book I listed above.
I can ask him questions directly! |

I recently got hold of a copy of The Master Book of Herbalism by Paul Beyrl. It's out of print, but there are still a few new and like-new copies out there. My local librarian was kind enough to order it for me from Barnes&Noble.com. This is a very informative book, and one of the better herbalism books that I've seen. It doesn't go into the medicinal uses, sonce Mr. Beyrl says that there are many books out there that already go into those details, but he does a better than fair job of detailing the magickal uses. He admits (I believe in the preface) that he doesn't know all of the magickal uses, and that even after he finished writing the book he learned enough info to constitute writing a second, expanded edition. However, I don't believe that he ever wrote an updated version. If he did, and anyone knows about it, please let me know.
