Topic: what came first the chicken or the egg? | |

It is evident the egg came first as such a mutation would be highly likely to occur during pre and post embryotic development creating what we call a chicken from a gene mutation in an embryo egg.

Which came first, the Chicken or the Egg? I'd have to say it was the ROOSTER that came first. But...then again...it's my understanding that a chicken don't need a rooster to lay/have eggs! I would think the hen/chicken came first, then the egg! |

Which came first, the Chicken or the Egg? I'd have to say it was the ROOSTER that came first. A Rooster IS a Chicken! Back on the ranch, the rooster has to cum first....it fertilizes the egg inside the Hen....otherwise, you just have eggs and NO CHICKS! I don't know abouit you but you gotsta have Chicks. |

Not being a country boy (just an old city slicker), your right! I should have said hen, to identify the female chicken! But as far as the egg, it is my understanding that when all the little animals were created, way back when...the chicken(hen and/or rooster) was created first, before the egg! I've never seen where the egg was created first! And, yea...your right again...even city slickers still need plenty of them there chicks around! |

The chicken came first, check out genesis:)

Closest pre-historic relatives to the modern chicken are dinosaurs, and they were laying eggs before chickens came on the scene.

It is evident the egg came first as such a mutation would be highly likely to occur during pre and post embryotic development creating what we call a chicken from a gene mutation in an embryo egg. Yes, I agree. In most situations, long before an egg (like a chicken egg) has developed, the mutations that would define an organism have already occurred. I suppose its possible (?) there are exceptions to this, but it seems they would be extremely rare. Closest pre-historic relatives to the modern chicken are dinosaurs, and they were laying eggs before chickens came on the scene. Another relevant comment! The chicken came first, check out genesis:) This is the science section, not the mythology section. This should explain it all.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckhasegf2wA&NR=1 MetalWing, that was an excellent explanation. Short, to the point, and well stated while addressing all the relevant issues. I will be sure to watch more of the eloquent and informative videos from this production company. |

Actually I would think that the evolution of some creature ended so far with the chicken. Changes happen so slowly over time that we would have had a pre pre pre chicken and then a pre pre chicken and then a pre chicken and then a chicken. Each change would have happened during fertilization so technically the pre egg came before the egg and then the chicken...lol |

Which came first, the Chicken or the Egg? I'd have to say it was the ROOSTER that came first. Maybe there was a mutual coming so to speak...lol |

depends on witch of them had better self control Well technically don't we truly want one with complete abandon just letting them off right and left and one thinking of sports for a while and then letting it go |

Well, the egg came first. Unless you deny that something with eggs in it came before chickens. Please, none of you believe that a giant space chicken laid an egg and that was the creation of our universe... right?

Chicken came first.
Because it was a chicken. You said so. The egg is just a name for what came from the chicken. And became whatever evolution primed it for. An egg first could have been anything. I have collected eggs on the farm. Anything does not describe what they can be if collected a wee too late... |
