Personally I figure if someone's Just burning time in the Prison System
without hope of getting out, it's better to off them than waste $40,k to
keep them alive annually...

After 17 years working in the system, I read criminal histories that
would make you sick. I agree with Sluggo. I am non violent but there
are people in prisons that are a waste of oxygen, you can't even imagine
some of the stuff, absolutely horrid. If they are absolutely certain,
DNA evidence, etc., that they have the right person, then I am for the
death penalty, not letting them hang out on death row for 10 to 12 years
appealing their conviction at $1 million each appeal that the state pays
for. I would give them one appeal, get their ducks in a row, one
appeal, then it is over and done with. I sound harsh and bitter, guess
I am in this instance, but would have to be certain that they had the
right person, as certain as possible anyway. I would never want an
innocent person harmed, but with DNA would hope that the system is about
as accurate as it can get. Nothing is fool proof though.

Guess I have talked enough circles around this, but some of the sex
offender evals I saw, oh hell yes, fry em.

True Gypsy, a famous psychiatrist said that even if they were castrated,
they would still find a way to hurt little kids, there is no cure. So
sad, but true. Maybe go back to lobotomies, but then you still have to
house them at thousands a year.

HUmmmmm hell now I live in Texas were we fry them or hang them or inject
them what every works the best just GET-R-DONE.

In WASH state they give them years and years of appeals 8, 10, 12 years
sometimes, at $1 an appeal that the state pays for, and for obviously
guilty felons. Ridiculous. Would give them one appeal then be done
with it. Texas has the right idea I think.

Well in truth, the prisoner get more educational rights than our under
privileged children do. Due to the time they do spend in prison and get
to educate themselves on the judical system, they have changed the laws.
People on the outside of the prison system need to fight for less rights
for the prisoners and have as much power as the imprisoned. If you
understand this then you know it has nothing to do with voting, it has
everything to do with education and knowing the laws and how to change
them.
If more people on the outside had as much compasion to change laws for
thier benifit as the prisioners do, wouldn't you be educated on how to
make a difference? To many trust the system to be the protector, when
the system will only protect those that know the law and how use it.

And the inmates that require protective custody cost even more to house,
is outrageous the amounts of money. Even building nursing homes in
prisons for the elderly, inmates with AIDS and their meds, the mentally
ill, because they have no place to live on the streets and get in
trouble and the prison system houses them because they break the law,
don't have any place else to put them. At least they are cared for, hot
food, medication, counseling, a warm bed, and are protected from general
population as much as possible. You wouldn't believe how many elderly
are in the system now. Dying in there, no health insurance, go to
prison to get medical care.

Don't mind me, just stepped into the middle of an angry venom spitting
mob brandishing pitch forks and clubs to day Thou Shalt Not Kill. Simple
minds should stick to simple issues. This is not one of them. What would
be your call if, say, your dad was the person in question? Let's say he
raped and killed your sister? Your wife, in a state of suicidal
depression, drowned your son in a tub but failed in taking her own life
after leaving you a note that explained how deeply she loved you but
could not bear to live without you after you left her for another woman
in the trailer park? Snap decisions leave the door wide open for self
doubt and questioning after the curtain falls. Put your pitch forks

I agree with Marie..If there is absolute certainty...such as DNA then
yes... agree with the death penalty...It's better than taking a chance
on them escaping one day and being able to reoffend and yes spending
millions on the wastes of society!!!!!!

A close friend of mine was murdered on May 30th by his nephew.
Never in my wildest dream would I ever thought I'd feel this way,but I
want that nephew dead. Canada should wake up!

I agree Grey...Our laws are far too soft...Life in prison isn't even
life for god sakes...BUT 10, 15, or 25 years in prison before parole
eligibility!!!!!!!
