Yep just hot air spewing out of his mouth to get elected. Broken promises. I thought he was supposed to be a "different" kind of politician. |

"different is as different does"
spewing, broken promises and hot air used to describe a politician...now there's something you don't hear every day |

I thought he was supposed to be a "different" kind of politician. If you go back and read transcripts of speeches Obama made around the country while campaigning there are alot more broken promises. It's good to see that increasingly more and more Americans are no longer "Still in Denial" of Obama's "empty campaign promises" |

Gosh I didnt hear a timeline in that speech and he still has three years,, so how are we defining a lie?.....accomplishments not attempted(cause that can be refuted) or accomplishments not yet achieved?,,,apparently the latter,,, so all those people who started out the year promising to loose that last ten pounds beware of the liar label until you accomplish your goal....

I don't recall any caveats like..."this will only be the most open and transparent government in history when the issue is popular and I don't have to worry about collateral damage".
Or how about this one... " I will not have any lobbyists in my cabinet, unless they are friends of mine or helped get me elected". This is a classic example: Two days after introducing what he heralded as the most sweeping ethics rules in American history -- ones that would "close the revolving door that lets lobbyists come into government freely" -- President Barack Obama today waived those rules for his nominee for Deputy Secretary of Defense, William Lynn. Until last fall, Lynn was a registered lobbyist for the defense contractor Raytheon. “After consultation with counsel to the president," said Director of the Office of Management of Budget Peter Orszag in a statement, "I hereby waive the requirements of Paragraphs 2 and 3 of the Ethics Pledge of Mr. William Lynn. I have determined that it is in the public interest to grant the waiver given Mr. Lynn's qualifications for his position and the current national security situation. I understand that Mr. Lynn will otherwise comply with the remainder of the pledge and with all preexisting government ethics rules.” http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/01/two-days-after.html 2 DAYS... He went 2 whole days... WOW we should all be so very impressed.. |

LOL These threads are too funny. Folks really try to hard to find the dirt that isn't there....lol I find it equally funny that, no matter what, you folks manage to soft shoe everything he screws up. I mean, technically the guy he hired in the last example wasn't a lobbyist anymore....so that makes it perfectly ok for him to sidestep that particular campaign " promise " within two days of taking office. Hey...here's some Hope and Change for you. He CHANGED the style of the blinders he put on the sheep....and he HOPES no one will notice. |

What you have to ask yourself is, would McCain have done any better? Somewhere out there is a parallel universe where Johhny won the G.E. and he is the president. You'll have to ask him how that's going.

You'll have to ask him how that's going. Umm....it's a moot question because it didn't happen. Do I think he would have been any better?? Nope. We'd be in the same crap we are now. As usual, the Presidential election wasn't won or lost based on the issues facing this country. It was won by the person the media picked for everyone. The media loved the idea of " hope and change and change and hope " < which is all we actually heard from Obama. All tal;k and no substance as far as the real issues > and used a bunch of celebrities to tout Obama so that all the sheeple would think that voting for him would be a GREAT idea. I mean, hell...OPRAH said we should vote for him. That's all we NEED, right? |

Jim carey could do a better job running the country as President.

Maybe if we started picking businessmen instead of senators and governors for president, we might get somewhere.

Maybe if we started picking businessmen instead of senators and governors for president, we might get somewhere. You mean instead of Lawyers??? lol |

"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you will join me in changing it." -Pres. Obama
Yeahhh. |

Maybe if we started picking businessmen instead of senators and governors for president, we might get somewhere. You mean instead of Lawyers??? lol No as in businessmen like Ross Perot. Henry Ross Perot (born June 27, 1930) is an American businessman from Texas best known for running for President of the United States in 1992 and 1996. Perot founded Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in 1962, sold the company to General Motors in 1984 and founded Perot Systems in 1988. Perot Systems was bought by Dell for $3.9 billion in 2009. He was born in Texarkana, Texas. With an estimated net worth of around US$5 billion in 2008, he is ranked by Forbes as the 68th-richest person in America. I love this quote: "Go to Rome, go to Paris, go to London. Those cities are centuries old. They're thriving. They're clean. They work. Our oldest cities are brand new compared to them and yet… go to New York, drive through downtown Washington, go to Detroit, go to Philadelphia. What's wrong with us?" |

Maybe if we started picking businessmen instead of senators and governors for president, we might get somewhere. Bush had a couple businesses,, they just failed... |

"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you will join me in changing it." -Pres. Obama Yeahhh. Let me make a similar statement so it doesnt seem so profound 'Tiger is the greatest golfer on the course,,I want to train you to be BETTER' because someone is the greatest of the weak,,doesnt mean they dont need improvement themself,, same is true of nations The best way for the smartest student to lose his lead is to become complacent in his position and stop trying to improve,,, perhaps the parents and educators will get the point,,,greatest doesnt mean improvement is unnecessary, greatest is only a temporary position until someone gets BETTER than you |

Not only that. He is no exception to the rule. All politicians espouse dreams as "promises". At least if you give this one a chance, you will see that he is sincere. Can you really expect them to be able to do all the things they say? They aren't comic book super heroes. They still have to swim in a sea of sharks and naysayers. Ah hem. |

Maybe if we started picking businessmen instead of senators and governors for president, we might get somewhere. You mean instead of Lawyers??? lol instead of a professional politician we have developed a ruling class of professional politicians who feel entitled to the people's resources we should be electing business men, farmers, merchants to do their time in Washington and go home |
