I love it when a profile says "I'm looking for someone who shares my same interests," and they never tell you what those interests are.

Maybe "psychic abilities" is one of them....?

Oh yes ... these are the same people who use "no answer" for all of their detail questions.

That's like those people who say "I like watching tv, listening to music, etc." Why would someone ever use etc in a profile meant for strangers to read?!

Or "I like to go out or stay in." There aren't a whole lot of other options, so this is not a particularly useful piece of information.

And it's always in the really empty profiles so that you have nothing to ask ABOUT.

I've been tempted to write and say, "Yeah, there is one thing I'd like to ask you -- why are you too lazy to write an actual profile?"

But I resist the impulse. So far.

Hummm heck it would not matter if you wrote every single detail about your self they would say they have looked at your profile then ask you to tell them about yourself.

Yeah, that could be a problem. It's been so long since I actually HAD a conversation with someone who was able to transcend the amoeba-discussion parameter, or ADP, as we in the trade call it....

You send the email and block them. Then they will come on the forum and talk about it.

I've tried everything in e-mails -- humor, literary skills, veiled threats, nebulous promises of free Pop-Tarts, puzzles, foreign languages, drawings of pelicans, you name it -- and I never get a reply.

Now I just wait for THEM to read my profile and get either angry enough or confused enough to write to ME.

This has served me well. "Well," as in "gets me a lot of pointless attention for no reason." Maybe "well" is not really the word I'm looking for.
