A man is now the centre of attention in Comma Pen, St Elizabeth after he is said to have launched an all-out attack on a dog which bit him.

THE STAR heard that the man, Jasper*, tried on at least three occasions to get a hold on the canine in order to inflict a bite of his own. He reportedly did so on Tuesday.

Corporal Kevon Hibbert said news of the incident reached the St Elizabeth police following an altercation with the dog's owner and the man who allegedly bit the animal.

"The owner of the dog was really upset and actually attacked the other guy with a machete. The other man went for his machete also but when he got back we were on the scene so we held on to both of them and that's how we heard of it," Corporal Hibbert explained.

open gate

THE STAR was told that about a week ago Jasper was walking through the community when a dog rushed through an open gate and bit him.

After seeking medical attention, Jasper walked about telling everyone about the incident swearing he would stop at nothing until he got revenge on the dog.

On Saturday, residents witnessed Jasper poking at the dog with a stick. That plan did not work as the dog ran everytime he tried to grab him. Jasper tried again on Sunday by going into the dog's yard and trying to chase him down - that plan also failed.

On Tuesday, residents said Jasper pushed food through a hole in the fence into the dog's yard. It was then that he finally got hold of and bit the animal to everyone's disbelief.

Meanwhile, the police said the dog's owner has offered to refund Jasper for the medical expenses he incurred when he was bitten.
