Well if the dog whisperer was here...........

The relationship is not balanced, see. The dog needs an Alpha leader, strong, centered, in charge, not anxious, not just wanting to love him but to keep him in line. He is new to "The Pack" at your house and doesn't know his place yet. You need to be calm, centered, in charge.
And blizzard or not the dog needs to walk, every day. Dogs in nature walk most of the time, looking for food, being in charge of their territory. Walking burns off nervous energy, and centers the animal.
You need to be strong and assertive, the dominate Alpha leader. He is acting out because there is no leader.

$500 please.

Does have anyone have any tips on dog training. My dog is gonna drive me INSANE. He has serious seperation anxiety, even if I just leave the room. My neighbors complained that when I'm gone he barks, ALL day long. He flipped out and scratched up my door frame just while I was outside putting salt out for the snow. I have a kennel I put him in when I'm gone just so he won't destroy anything. I did just order a barking collar (not a shock collar ) to see if that helps. I need some ideas. flowerforyou

You might want to try and use something of yours in his cage,Like a pillow case,a throw you have covered up with,a old pair of sweats,so your scent is in the cage. That what I did worked like a charm.
