The Invitation

Invited to leave,
seemed such
a civilized way
to get rid of
the confusion caused
by speaking one's mind,
one's heart of
an opinionated trailblazer.
There was a time,
not too long before,
that the outspoken
thrust of life
in that fast lane
was heralded
to be sought
above all other
forms of intelligent life.
When it was out
in the open that living
that personal nature included
bold and uncompromising integrity,
it was no longer expedient to
belong to them.
There is always
somewhere to go
to be whom you are.
An invitation,
please stay.
