I am a firm believer in using natural remedies as much as possible. I am also a strong supporter of modern medicine.
I work WITH my doctor to take care of myself and my medical condition as best we can. People who blindly trust doctors or claims for natural remedies are doing themselves more harm than good. Educate yourself and don't eliminate possibilities out of fear. People used to die from Lupus. I live a relatively normal life thanks to modern medicine AND natural remedies. |

the flu vaccine consists of dead viruses (except fot the nasal dose) the proteins and amino acids from the dead viruses makes the body think its being attacked so it creates antibodies to fight off the virus sometimes the body is fooled into thinking it really has a bad virus infection and you get the fever and nausea as if you had it my friend caught the flu last week. They think its H1N1 but haven't got the results back. He was in bed a week miserable, and then the secondary bronchial infection set in (bacterial). He is STILL in bed sick its the secondary bronchial infection that has been killing people Had your friend been vaccinated? nope he just toook megadoses of Viamin C and some kind of fish oil |

Vaccines save lives. It is not the vaccine that saves the life, it is the body's immune system. It if were not for that a vaccine could not help you. Sorry, but I am skeptical about that statement. Vaccines save lives. |

Vaccines save lives. I'm still a skeptic. Do you have anything to back that up? How do vaccines make the immune systems strong? Didn't you (in this thread) say that even people with strong immune systems were getting the flu and dieing of it? Either a strong immune system can fight off the flu or it can't. It killed larger proportions of young and middle age adults with strong immune systems . .. why? Because it was the reaction, or overreaction of the very strong immune system that killed them, via inflammation of the lungs.
Are there any reliable statistics? How many people who got the vaccine still caught the flu as compared to people who did not get the vaccine? Are there any numbers? Tests? In other words, why should I believe that I am better off getting a vaccine than not if I am healthy and have a good immune system? |

I had both the seasonal flu vaccine and the swine flu vaccine ( H1N1) as well . I had no reaction whatsoever . It is a catch 22 ; we are damn if we do and we damn if we do not . Some people had very bad reactions including deaths .

Its not so simple as to quantify that strong immune response is good. Fever is a response, and it can kill you . . . . Most poeple want simple black and white answers, well tuff ****, its not easy. Immunology is complex. Its a pioneer field of study. I am not a professional. Google is your friend. The statistics are out there and they show a tale that backs up the efficacy of vaccines. Immunology is complex. That's the understatement of the year. |

There were 15 deaths from this flu known by some people who work at our hospital here in town, but they are sworn to secrecy at the risk of losing their jobs. Why all the secrecy I wonder? Does the hospital report these deaths? Do they test to see what flue actually was responsible? I know they don't test all the cases of flu they get because testing for h1n1 is expensive. So I don't really trust statistics much. |

I think its a great idea to deliberately expose yourself to low levels of a virus when you are healthy, to motivate your body to prepare to fight the virus off if exposure is repeated later.
I've been told that parents used to send their healthy kids to 'go get chicken pox' from the neighbor kid - because kids generally recover really well from chicken pox, while the adult form of the disease is sometimes fatal. (I didn't verify any of that... ) One thing that I wonder about regarding vaccines, though - especially the seasonal flu vaccines - is who is making them ? And according to what standards? Can you choose amongst manufacturers? Do companies bid on a government contract? |
