Okay, we know we can't turn the clock back, why do we keep turning our minds back? Do you ever find yourself there? What do you do to pull yourself out?

For me I reflect back to remind myself who I am and how lucky I am to be who I am.

Practice. Live in the now. Distract yourself by focusing on something else. Eventually you will break the habit.

Hey! wait,I do turn my clock back once a year. But hey! I'm weird like that. There is nothing wrong w/ reminiscing dear provided that we are thinking primarily of the positive aspects that have enriched our lives.I find that dwelling upon the negative experiences is highly unproductive & can lead to this funk that U speak of.Granted we learn & grow from both however it is by far more beneficial to our lives to remain focused upon the positive nature of our being while reminiscing.Godspeed!Cy

Okay, we know we can't turn the clock back, why do we keep turning our minds back? Do you ever find yourself there? What do you do to pull yourself out? Actually OP I do turn the clock back a few days out of the year. The days of my childrens and grandchildrens birthday. the day I married their dad, Christmas, I take that time to remember all the good things. When I decorate my tree for example I have ornaments dating back to the late 1700's for me this is memory lane. As I hang my children's ornaments beginning with the very first one I can recall what they looked like right down to what they got for Christmas that year. If and when I get stuck in the negative stuff I look at it and examine thank God I lived through and I have found for each hurtful or negative thing there are at least 2 great things that have come out of it. |

i thrive on change, and with that, one has to look from an overview as much as they can when they have doubts, and although hindsight still hits, since i try to practice this, it's been considerably less so far.
it's like excersizing the body though, you do it enough, you become better, stronger and more accurate at it..... not dwelling but remembering the past helps you from falling back into "the routine"......just something i've learned. |

I try to focus what is going on in the moment. Sometimes it is really hard to do.

I look back once in a while only to reflect but never to regret..........

Sometimes when I wake up in the morning and my bones creak I am reminded...
