what happens once your new memories become old?

What's the grace period on that?

I'd like to keep my old memories. So, I think I'd rather not be able to create new ones. Boy! That would be some adventure.

If i lost my old memories i would lose sight of who i am. It is our past that makes us what we are. I would rather not be able to make new memories

Since I barely remember my memories now, it would definately be making new ones

If I lose the chance to make new memories then I lose the chance on making the rest of my life special. I would rather make special memories going forward than hang onto old memories and live in the past....

I would have to go with not being able to make new ones.

What about when "old memories" become new ones, because you "Just

Remembered" them?

I would rather keep what I already have from the past. Would never give up the memories I have from those that are no longer here or the birth of my kids or my granddaughter.....noway

Lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones?

Unfortunately...I had both through a MC accident (TBI)in 91 for years; even intermittantly now when tired..
Losing memories and not making new ones. Lived in a very zen type of existance.
Eerie, meeting people then having to remeet them with no inkling of the first time- which could be a hour ago. BUT you would remember that. Or finding clothes in your closet with tags on them and not know where they came from and be told yopu boughtthem the other day. (??!!!???) Or not even know you were forgetting- or that you knew but didn't know what you forgot. A lunch with a old friend that you wouldn't see again, time seemed to move slowly with so little memories, on and on.
The most thankful and grateful part of it all was that slowly it got better. The extreme sadness of it was the realization that this was what it was like for those with dementia/alzhiemers..only they got worse..
It's a interesting question to ask... I found out that the only reality is now and how important it is compared to memories.

Wipe the hard drive, factory restore, time to start over again.

Yep. Hard drives are just like the human brain in so many ways.

Well with out the old ones I am free of who I am, and can re-invent myself, not held back by fears, and old experiences. I have the opportunities to learn from my mistakes again, and let go of them quicker. No past to confine me or define me.
