correct...if memory serves, their calender runs on 5 cycles of varying lengths. all of these cycles repeat themselves. the last and longest of which runs some 26,000 years and is to end on this date. the fact that it coincides with a cosmic alignment and the sun being in the exact center of our galaxy is freaking people out but this happens every 26,000 years or so and is the basis for the cycle in the first place.

yes...there in nothing of this time being the end..some believe there are energy shifts that all will feel because we are all affected by what happens in the cosmos...the oneness mentality. This 12-21-2012 date is the winter solstice..the day the sun is farthest from the earth..

I believe it's supposed to be 12/23/2012 but no, I don't believe it although if you look at the mayan studies, it is crazy that some natural disaster has happened...that they've documented all kinds of events for a very long time and figured out time and the years by watching the stars and figuring out which constelations were where throughout the seasons and hours. They were pretty intelligent in ways...but if anyone thinks religiously, the bible says the end will come like a thief in the night...no one will know or be predicting it especially by a specific date. And for those who don't believe in God, well...mankind always predicts something bad to happen...it's only natural to expect the worst especially when looking back and seeing some sort of pattern in nature. People are still here though...why would THIS time be the end?

The "end of the world" concept comes from radical Christians who are waiting for Jesus..and the radical New Age Groups. Has nothing to do with the Maya or the calender.

Maybe as we know it..that may not be so bad though...

I'm more worried about April 13, 2036. That's the day the giant asteroid may hit us.

The only reason Y2K didn't happen was because a lot of computer people worked very hard to make sure it didn't.

If 2012 happens then I welcome it, point me in the direction of ground zero. Otherwise this human race will go on suffering for another 1000 or more years. I've looked evil in the eye and I'm no longer afraid, bring it on!
