Topic: Cell phone | |

I have had a cell phone that I haven't used in a long time. Is it possible to change it to a tract phone? I don't want to be locked into a contract so, I figured pay as you go would be my best bet. any idea's?

that is a good question. I would like to know too
I had a $300 verizon phone when I moved to the desert. They wouldn't renew my contract cause I wanted a local area code and they didn't serve the area so I just got a prepay alltell free phone NOW a year later, verizon bought alltell so, I'm wonderin if I can use the old phone as a pre pay cause I won't commit to a contract either |

I know this doesnt help you, but it would definately be possible in the UK. All you do is buy a new pay as you go sim card and stick it in. Some phones are 'locked' to prevent this, but you can get them unlocked pretty cheaply and easily.

Have you tried contacting a phone company that does pay as you go and asking them? That's your best bet.

I have a Net10 phone that I got from Walmart. I think I paid $30 for the phone...this is going back about 3 years. I pay $15 dollars a month for minutes. No contract!

Look up Straight Talk...its through Trac Fone but even cheaper...I just got it and I love it!

They use Verisions network so it works great. 1000 texts and 1000 minutes for 30.00 or unlimited for 45.00 a month.

but I don't want a new phone.
I want to use my old $300 phone that takes video and 5meg pictures and had all the bells and whistles |

Try going to a pawn shop. They do a big business in used cell phones and chances are they picked up the information you need in the process.

hmmmm do they now?
that I think I'll try. There are a couple of good pawn shops in Odessa and I've been considering browsing for a new guitfiddle in em. now I have more incentive haha good call |

This is what I was told at the Verizon store when I wanted to switch a phone to pay as you go. Verizon has a "pay as you go" type plan, but it is a dollar a day for any day you use your phone. Verison phones dont have sim cards in them to be able to switch the phones to another carrier. So I think that you are stuck using that phone with only Verizon.
OP-- I think that as long as your phone has a sim card, you can change it to a Trac phone. Wal-Mart has Trac phone sim cards. P.S. I love my Trac phone. 20 bucks every other month. |
