but one I did like was Billy Graham there was never a doubt on anyones part of his sincerity now Billy Graham. THERE was a preacher he could move a stadium of 100,000 to tears and then make em all laugh with his humor and he WAS the right kind of Christian and fought constantly to not be the usual type of evangalist and not be caught up in the power and money he ministered as official spiritual advisor to President's Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and Bush when Clinton was in the middle of the Monica Lewinsky mess it was Billy Graham he turned to advice and support but he is over 90 now and in poor health so Obama will just have to muddle on without him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUFaHEnM6HU |

I wouldn't put much into anything that comes out of SC.
They're down there now complaining because they wont get unemployment extension benefits or many other funds provided by the Stimulus. They complain now, and the people are paying the price in hardship, because their Governor rejected it. His hopes of the Republican nomination for President have screwed his people. His indiscretion and corruption have screwed his chances of getting any nomination. He screwed his people with the full support of his party (Republican) for nothing. I remember many people on here declaring Sanford a Republican hero for not taking the Stimulus money! (Sound advice folks, just ask the citizens of SC who are unemployed.) The Republican Party needs to be disbanded. |

Texas didnt take it either
the money would have been nice for unemployment benefits. but when that money ran out the unemployment benefits would have still been obligated and THEN the state would have had to raise taxes to maintain them it was just another unfunded (or semi funded) mandate but then again Texas didnt need the money. we have a several billion dollar surplus |

Plus, thanks to Bush making Ft. Hood the largest military base in the US, they get billions of Federal funding. Besides that, Texas doesn't have that big a surplus. They do have one, but that comes from cutting State programs to balance the State budget every year. Something that is required by State law. If I recall correctly, to balance last years budget, they had to cut 10 mill/bill more from state programs. |

AND that doesn't have anything to do with the OP You brought Texas and Bush oil up. I only said I wouldn't put much stock into anything coming out of SC. They have been trying to remove their Republican Governor, for his corruption, for sometime now. He refuses to leave peacefully. They have bigger problems than a license plate to worry about! |

Besides being a notoriously Republican run State. They are also in the heart of the bible belt.
If one, as many in this country are, is interested in attacking Christianity. What better place to do it than in the heart of the bible belt. |

As much as the next heathen, but this is just stupid. COLUMBIA, S.C — A federal judge ruled Tuesday that South Carolina can't issue license plates showing the image of a cross in front of a stained glass window along with the phrase "I Believe." U.S. District Judge Cameron Currie's ruling said the license plate was unconstitutional because it violates the First Amendment ban on establishment of religion by government. Within hours, a private Christian group said the ruling doesn't stand in the way of its "plan B" to get a similar plate issued using a state law that permits private groups to issue tags they design. The fight over the plates started shortly after Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer helped push the legislation through in 2008. Groups including Americans United for Separation of Church and State and American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee challenged the state's ability to put a religious message on a state license tag. violates the First Amendment ban on establishment of religion by government. wrong it violates the first ammendment part that says or prohibiting the free exercise thereof |
