The holes in Samantha Wilson's lungs are getting bigger.
There is no cure for her illness and if it continues to get worse it
will eventually kill her.

Samantha is 37 and has emphysema, a progressive condition normally
associated with older people who have smoked tobacco regularly
throughout their lives.

Samantha's doctor, Dr Onn Min Kon, a consultant physician of respiratory
medicine at St Mary's Hospital in London, believes her cannabis smoking
may be to blame for her condition.

Dr Kon said he had several other young patients who smoke cannabis and
have lung diseases normally seen only in older tobacco smokers.

He said: "I've got a collection of young people who have lungs that look
like they're 65-year-olds."

Such case studies have prompted Dr Kon to plan a study comparing the
lungs of patients who smoke cannabis with those who smoke only tobacco.

When Samantha, of Maida Vale, London, was diagnosed with emphysema at
the age of 34 she had been smoking cannabis for 20 years.

the tars and resin in canabis equivalent to one joint are equal to 16
cigarettes

dont smoke but seems all the good **** kills ya.kinda sucks.

So harmless that people want to make it legal

i have bee pot and tobacco for 36 years,i cough up great balls
of shiitt every time i take my first hit from a bong,dont get colds or
flue very often. my lungs dont rattle may be im a time bomb waiting to
explode and after all these years im not sure why i feel so
good.

pot makes me cough....bad on the asthma but surprizingly cigs are easier
on them....go figure???

legalize it i love smoken pot i am a criminal at the moment and that
sucks i love the herb superb it is still being demonized. i would rather
see the laws changed to make it a crime to eat animals.

Anywho I do not partake in the herbage but i am a smoker. Bl8nt is so
right on with her percentage with the tar and resine. Personally i feel
it should be legal as long as its sold to adults like alcohol by
checking ID's. I dont see any war on drugs being won so why not legalize
this herb. It has many benefits for patients with glaucoma, cancer and
even MS patients. Working in a va pharmacy they prescribe it to the
veterans so why not just legalize this?? Just my honest opinion.

young. he knows where the money goes.

It is availible in pill form for the non smoking pain sufferers.
I say legalize and use it to fund special education which seems to be
the first thing cut in a school budget.

proof to his hypothesis!!
Not enough testing done. He is probably looking for a grant!!!

Two years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer, rushed into surgury to save
my life, bull****......They removed 1/3 of my right lung, these all
knowing and educated doctors, and then said, Oh we were wrong it wasnt
cancer. The American Cancer society came to see me. I asked questions
and they were happy to provide answers. First, they told me that of all
people who die of lung cancer less than 25% ever smoked a cigg in their
life. What??
Yes thats the truth.
Then, I asked, why didnt they know it wasnt cancer? They said there is
no verifiable way to tell if you have cancer or not, until they perform
surgury and do a biopsy on the tissue itself, in a lab!
Last they told me, that of all the money spent to find a cure for
cancer, and for research, Lung Cancer is the least funded of all. I
asked why, and they said, the fed government fiqures its your fault for
smoking and there is not a public consensus for studying something you
do to yourself.
Yet, less than 25% of all lung cancer sufferers have ever smoked a
single cigg!

NOBODY should be in jail for growing a plant on their own property,
drying it, and smoking it themselves.

On the other hand, I -never- want to see marijuana cigarettes at 7-11,
nor do I ever want to see ads on television for a pot-based product.

There is a HUGE amount of grey area between these two extremes
