the importantest thing about it was the music and the performances of the singers and actors not it's adherence to gospel or history

So, you are the Christ, you're the great Jesus Christ.
Prove to me that you're no fool; walk across my swimming pool.

I like the 1970 version.

It's a Gr8 movie  .I personaly like the orginal music from the first movie as apposed to the newer and other music that was changed slightly. You should check out that broadway show.As far as I know Ted neely who stared in the orginal movie is still singing in the broadway version of it some 30 years later.I have seen the live show many times and it is excellent.

I once saw a modern day version of Jesus Christ superstar where Jesus is wearing a suit and tie and instead of having a last supper of bread and wine they drink pepsi and eat pizza. It was a rather brillant twist to the old movie and something perviously undone that I thought was not only entertaining but interesting and well written.

I love it too, always have. I've seen the movie several times and last year I saw the play in San Diego. The Herod part was a bit edgy and made me nervous but it's supposed to be racey I guess. Anyway, classic production!

Always wished that I'd be an apostle, knew that I would make it if I tried..
Then when we retire we can write the gospel so they'll all talk about us when we die...

Love it!!

I Just finished watching, listening to this movie again.
I love it, love the songs, love the story...
I realize it was a bit much for many back in it's day.
Anybody love this play, movie as much as I do?

Nope. Mr. Webber's "Jesus" is not the Jesus I serve. BTW, the movie/play should NOT end with "Jesus" hanging on the cross. The believer's hope for an eternal life with their Lord lies in Jesus being resurrected on Sunday morning, not with Him left hanging on the cross.

If you want a more accurate portrayal of Jesus' ministry watch the "Jesus" film. And if you really want to cry watch Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ". Despite his recent misadventures, Mr. Gibson's film is by far the most realistic & fairly accurate portrayal of Jesus' last days on earth.

I am not a Christian....I have no interest in watching Mel Gibson's more violent version. I like the music, I like the "different" story. I like the clothes they wear...like the captain said..it's groovy!

As long you realize it's fictionalized clap-trap & not representative of the real story of Christ, then fine. The problem is, the "Jesus" that Mr. Webber purports is the 1 that most would rather embrace, not the 1 who really created all that we see, loves us beyond all human understanding to be born to die & was not "groovy" but holy, blameless & upon His return to heaven, found worthy to be seated at His Father's right hand.

Dude,, I think far too many people have stopped being able to separate fiction, movies, art, tabloids from real life...but certainly MINGLERS know much better than that,,,,,,lol

Good movies are just good movies, rarely meant to be taken as biographies.
