Kick...My Bad Habit

On my hip it resides...
My bad habit.
My face glows as it glows and encompasses my being
It is MY addiction.
Caressed between my thumb and index
Countless hours wasted...
I thought I was cool
I thought IT was cool.
Movie stars had them...
The commercials replayed in my mind
My face glows as it glows and encompasses my being
Fixated on the scenes of beautiful men and women
IT was in their hands and attached to the face
Seemingly draining as they hopped from bar to bar
Sometimes more...some near...some far...
Reinforcing the urge for MY bad habit
The desire...
The NEED...
My face glows as it glows and encompasses my being
At first it was easy...
I didn't truly NEED to succumb
Rather a quick fix after hours...always at night.
But then the interest grew...
And with that the bill
Singles turned to couples...
Gotta stay on top of things...
IT kept me up late nights
Glowing...
Attached to my face...
Caressed between my index and thumb...
My face glows as it glows and encompasses my being
I left friends at arms distance...
Family too...
But no bother...
My bad habit was all I needed...
On my hip it resides
Someday I'm going to Kick this habit of mine...
Place it to the Side
And start to truly Kick it
You know? Spend time...
Free my hands up and see things beyond the glow
My face glows as it glows and encompasses my being
But perhaps this sidekick is blinding my seeing
Er...sight.
Yeah, I can see clearly now. The screen is gone...
Time to kick that habit...put down that phone...
