Topic: Do you let others influence your actions?..... | |
---|---|
When someone tells you something about a situation going on. Do you just take them at their word and follow in their footsteps? Or do you ask for proof of the allegations they deem to be true.
Example if someone tells you someone is doing something or have said something that was posted else where. Would you tell them show me the proof or just believe what they say and play follow the leader and not even try to get to the bottom of what was said....... Too many times things are said out of one being vindictive and the claims are all false or have been stretched to benefit them. But those that do not question them just believe them at what they say even though no proof was ever shown...... Sooooooooooo tell me what would you do? Would what they say change your habits of whom you talk to or even a site you have been posting on all due to hearsay?...... |

Always make sure your facts are right before you run with a story. Journalisim 101. In The Internet Age,this axiom is pretty much dead. Loons will post anything as fact, and loons will believe them. be seeing you

See this is how I feel some can say they heard this or was told that but I would form my own opinion on the situation. I would never just stop what I was doing on a regular bases just because what I heard from others but there was no proof of what they were actually saying. Just because they were mad at them. To me one should always make sure that things were not being said just to get back at the one they were mad at. |

unless there's proof...it's gossip.... Ding ding ding. Especially on a site like this. If someone tells me something about a certain person, rather than jumping on the bandwagon and believing it, I'd rather find out the truth. |

When it comes to rumors, heresay and conjecture, I'll give the accused party the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise. If we are talking about physical situations (i.e. you might want to take a different route the bridge is out up that road, you probably could use a new radiator hose) I will usually defer to someone who has more knowledge in a given area than I. |

I would ask said person to give me the link so that I can read it first hand & draw my own conclusion.I don't buy into gossip/hear-say.And not to mention that interpretation varies from one individual to another.Godspeed!Cy;)

For you to believe the person would be dependant on their character. Do you know them to be upright or lowdown? As far as being in the forums, the friends made are strictly in the forums unless you know that person offline then that is different because you know them personally.
Even if you know that person via instant messaging and you trust them implicitly, you would need proof if it is online. Why? The true gist of a message cannot be felt sometimes, if rarely, and you may have to decide yourself what the person said by being directed to the proof or just plain asking them yourself. Sometimes it can and there is no need for proof of the other person's integrity, as you are reading exactly what was shown to you by that person. As far as an offline thing, I wouldn't pay too much attention. People talk a lot for the sake of venting and if you pay too much mind, things can be taken to an extreme. Not worth it spending one night in jail over. |

Gossip is immature and dangerous. I don't trust people who do it, and once I find out that someone is willing to talk freely about someone else's business to me, I'm careful about what I tell them.
