Phoenix Police Dept being sued for $6million by Tony Arambula. Tony called 911, police showed up and fired upon Arambula.

Once heck even twice can be accidental, how can being shot 6 times be accidental?

Officer has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
 CopS need to be fired UPON. He's dangerous:smile: *FIXED

indeed cops should be fired upon. agreed! sm:)e

Typical kind of statement of someone who can't stay out of trouble.

It's back up. If the wife is telling the truth, then the cop who shot should have been in trouble.

Sounds like very poor training of officers on that department.

On the clip I saw stated the officer did in fact admit to not giving any verbal commands at all.

ahhh also now on www.cnn.com the headline changed from Accidentally to to mistakenly

Guess that makes a helluva difference.

Cops should be fired upon? Good grief! They are fired upon on a daily basis and risk their lives. One bad cop doesn't mean all cops are bad.

It was a grave error. What I find funny is here some are ok with saying shoot a cop but in another thread they feel pity for a murderer that shot is own damn face off. frustrated

It's terrible what happened, my condolences and prayers to him and his family. I'm sure an investigation is under way and hopefully wrongs will be right.

How does someone shoot a person six times accidentally?

This is all too common an occurrence in our society: a law enforcement officer deliberately or negligently uses deadly force on a citizen and "is cleared" of any wrongdoing by his agency.

I would offer that there are many honorable men and women who serve as peace officers in this country. But, there is a small, "overzealous" segment [less than 2 percent], which is responsible for the vast majority of "accidental shootings" and "police brutality" incidents.

What it amounts to is that law enforcement officers in the U.S. are "granted the power of life and death". That is a profound responsibility which must be prudentially exercised. The fact that it is freely conveyed to civil servants in an unqualified manner is all the more astonishing. Police officers are rarely held accountable for miscreant acts because: (1) they are rarely, if ever, criminally prosecuted, even when captured on film, and (2) even when a civil judgment is attained against them, the taxpayers ultimately foot the bill for their defense and the monetary award.

Not giving a verbal command is a major problem. That would be due to either poor training or a person who panicked instead of reverting to his training.

Changing "accidental" to "mistaken" doesn't make it a different incident, but it is the correct terminology to describe what happened.

hey Pedalac, did ya start the party without me

In this article, the homeowner, Tony Arambula, captures an intruder. Calls cops, cops arrive. Homeowner has a weapon. He is shot 6 times by mistake/accidentally by an officer.

The officer was cleared of any wrongdoing. My initial question was how can a person shoot another person 6 times by accident? Now links say homeowner was shot mistakenly.
