its kind of like a biscuit they are very GOOD IF made right I have at least four different types of scone recipes all are good buttermilk ones made on a griddle are the best they are made with flour ,buttermilk ,salt , pinch of sugar , butter and cream of tartar I am sure what you are talking about is fine. Here they serve scones in coffee shops, probably not made the right way. They usually have been sitting underneath a counter for many hours before served. |

A tattie scone is made with mashed potato (potato and butter (no milk is used) with salt to taste) and plain flour is added to make it into a dough which is then rolled out and put on a grill to cook. part of a typial fried scottish breakfast We do not have tattie scones in the US, I think they would call that a fried potato cake. I have never heard of these I live in AZ, we have fresh tortilla's rolled with bits of potato, bits of meat, lots of cheese and hot sauce. Breakfast burrito's, they are great!!! |
