Topic: The ick factor | |

What happens when you been emailing a person and talking to them on the phone. Then when you meet them in person you cringe at the thought of them touching you and God for bid if they kissed you. What happens then---tell them nicely---Good bye ![]() |

I plan an exit strategy...have a friend or family member call 20 minutes into the date. That way if they are ick, eww or otherwise unacceptable, you can get the hell out!!

Oh your all so funny,,I enjoyed thoses answers. lol And by the way it was just a question---about if this ever happen to you all what would you do on a date that turned out--[ick]? IMHO Anyone who dates has had an icky date or two probably per year if they date actively. I had a lunch date where the guy looked nothing like his photos and was so gross I put my napkin in my plate and said I was finished, and excused myself. With his filthy hands in his plate stuffing his face I expect I was out of the resturant before he noticed. Had a coffee date where the guy (a professed Christian) turned out to be a rageing bigot, loud, and profane. After cringeing in horror a couple minutes as he berrated even his own daughter I told him I was getting a straw to get out of his reach, tipped the barrista, and walked out. The manager smiled and nodded as I walked out the door and away from the door into another store. Then he promptly walked over to the table offered to clear away my cup; he became abusive and obscene and he was firmly escorted not only out of the coffee shop but out of the front of the mall to the bus stop where he was ordered to either leave the premises or be arrested. I don't know how much it cost him to come back and get his car but it was hillarious. |

Be straight up in the beginning. I have learned not to have any expectations when meeting someone.

not true,If seen men photos but in person--yuk That is the beauty of the forums. You can get the "flavor" of someone and use it to get to know them by e-mail. You may not know them heart and soul, but if you work at it a awhile, it is far from a blind date situation. |

I ask them if they mind S.T.D.'s

USUALLY you can simply get through the date without incident. The hard part is if they ask at the end if they can see you again. I don't like to be misleading so I would probably, at that point, say, "I don't think we're a good match, but thanks for taking the time." But if they start making advances, then it's time to say "thank you, but I'm just not interested" and leave.
Maybe it's best to make it clear that the first date is simply a 'get to know you' thing and that you'll discuss later whether you'll get together again. |
