Before anyone reads my thoughts, please understand I am not referring to dating sites or anything specific.
Religion and antiquated ideology STILL brainwashes society into thinking the nude body is shameful. There is a double standard that women’s breasts are a sexual organ which is ridiculous. Breasts are mammary glands and not sexual organs. Because of this, it’s OK for men to be shirtless in public but not women (such as a beach). I agree that anything below the belt should NOT be displayed publicly. I believe there is a time and a place for everything as well as audience appropriateness (ie, kids) should always be considered. I don’t even think breast feeding should be done in public but I am not a kid person (which is off topic and not germane to my feelings). I think it’s sad when people argue over conservatism if applied to others. If someone wants to be prudish, fine, but don’t judge others or put their beliefs on others. This is something that has always annoyed me. I don’t spout off to people who dress in layers like a peasant and the overkill of clothing, so what gives them the right to tell me (or anyone else) that being topless at a beach or wearing a bikini is sinful. We were born naked! Common sense should dictate when naked is appropriate but not completely take over into being an extreme conformist. I waited to weight in on this topic because I tend to get very passionate about my rights, my body, and how disproportionate women are treated in 2009 regarding this subject. I know I am in the minority and there will be people who wish to debate with me; however, I have said my peace. I can’t change anyone’s mind and I don’t feel like arguing with a brick wall today. For those that think anyone displays their bodies because they are devoid of other qualities, I think that is ignorant. There are some that crave attention, yes, but some people just like to be free. I am a college educated -- soon to have a PhD and I love my body. I love being a personal trainer and helping people love their bodies too. I am surrounded in a world of beautiful bodies on the beach and I am happy when people are confident. Hell, some people are judged as self-absorbed because they are confident in ANY arena. Since when is being confident a bad thing? Shrinking violets are not any better. Again, don't judge others; judege yourself. Thanks for reading. |

I think everything on a woman's body is viewed that way. I was just telling someone how I'm reluctant to post the pic of my bare legs with my tattoo because it brings the pervs to my profile. I don't see anything sexual about bare legs, but that's just me. |

But, for all that, I'm really not interested in seeing anybody topless. Well, maybe Billie Piper. |
