It's not the illegal aliens. It's the companies who want to hire the cheapest labor force are the culprits and the ones who went overseas (china, india etc) to 3rd world countries to make sweatshops and have the poor people work for like 3 dollar/day to be able to buy enough food and water so they don't starve. I would like to find a way to not buy their products! It is called "modern day slavery" I think once I posted an article about it.. read this one too http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_48/b4011001.htm HINESE EXPORT manufacturing is rife with tales of deception. The largest single source of American imports, China's factories this year are expected to ship goods to the U.S. worth $280 billion. American companies continually demand lower prices from their Chinese suppliers, allowing American consumers to enjoy inexpensive clothes, sneakers, and electronics. But factory managers in China complain in interviews that U.S. price pressure creates a powerful incentive to cheat on labor standards that American companies promote as a badge of responsible capitalism. These standards generally incorporate the official minimum wage, which is set by local or provincial governments and ranges from $45 to $101 a month.
That's interesting. Thanks, Atlantis. |

Thanks, Smiless. ![]() It is just an opinion. Everyone is entitled to believe what they want. ![]() What it is worth, I hope the Kenyan woman I speak about gets a pay raise eventually. ![]() Good post Smiless! ![]() Well thank you very much. I don't do politics too much. It turns my stomach inside out. ![]() but I am aware of what is going on sometimes. It is problematic, but solutions can be found. The people just need to have more inspiration to do something. Have a heart and reason to do it and also more information which requires research and studying. If anything also travel and see for themselves the differences of life and how it works. I would start by putting in schools a better educational platform to where even kids in middle school start asking the same questions we see here in this Mingle2 political forum. Get our younger generation to study economics, politics in middle school already. Get them more involved so we can change things around for the better. I feel these subjects aren't emphasized enough in schools. I know foreigners that can tell the history of this country and how the government functions better then Americans that are born here. There is something wrong when this happens. Not that I am not happy for the foreigners. I am one myself. ![]() Nevertheless, this has to change somehow that everyone gets a better perspective of the basics of how a governmental body works and how the economy functions. I mean it doesn't have to be college degree level of course, but getting the basics would be great and starting early in life to build on it while growing up. I also have issues with private schools and public school systems. I just feel everyone should be entitled to the same education without having to pay different price tags to attain it. Well that is another issue by itself and is off topic anyway. Sorry OP for being off topic. Just rambling away here. Have a good one everyone and thanks for letting me reply. ![]() |

(Just in case you did not know....most of the jobs performed by illegal aliens are NOT wanted by the American citizens. It is easier to go on welfare, than to do hard work such as housekeepers, cooks, busboys, yard maintenance, etc. Illegal aliens are not taking away jobs from Americans. We are too lazy and proud to do what illegal aliens do. )
People who lie for a living have been saying this for years. |

In Iceland (a country with very liberal-leaning laws), they used to have Vietnamese as guest workers doing the menial labor that the natives didn't want to do. But, they made sure they were documented and IIRC, they provided some social services to the guest workers like emergency health care. However, and this is a big however, no nationals were displaced by guest workers-- only if it could shown that there was NOT a qualified national for a good-paying job would a guest worked even be considered for the position. We could probably apply the same principles here, but I think we all know why it has yet to come to pass. (And it's NOT because of liberals, either.) -Kerry O. |

40 to 42% of Mexico’s domestic product comes from Mexico’s colonies north of the river. Maybe if those 'colonists' stopped driving fuel guzzling Land Yachts with massive appetites for Mexican petroleum that wouldn't be the case. Last time I checked, we imported the most oil from Canada, followed in order by Saudi Arabia and then Mexico. -Kerry O. |
