I knelt and brushed the snow away, and touched her icy skin...
please, I prayed, as I picked her up...to the door, and then on in.

I placed her at the fireplace, laid my ear against her breast...
faintly hear her heartbeat...my own's pounding in my chest.

I wrap her in some blankets, then quickly build the fire...
to have her speak again to me, is now my hearts' desire.

craddle her head upon my lap, caress her face with mine...
feel my warmth move into her, eyes flutter as a sign.

a touch of color, at her cheeks, lips tremble as they part...
she whispers, you know I've loved you, from the very start...

then a poem...she recites to me...and this is how it goes.....

friendships come...
and friendships go...
and friendships, peter out, you know...

but we'll stay friends, through thick or thin...

peter out, or peter in.
