somewhere in time someone decided that the world just couldn't be allowed to turn by itself without being managed and regulated. That was the first liberal
I thought Jesus was the first liberal.

If you read the quotes attributed to him, he would be considered a classical liberal or libertarian, not a modern liberal.

It is the Soldier......
It is the Soldier not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of press.
It is the Soldier not the poet,
who has given us the freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the Soldier not the lawyer,
who gives us the right to a fair trail.

It is the Soldier......
who salutes the flag
who serves under the flag
whose coffin is draped by the flag
who has given the protester the right to burn the flag
- A U.S. Soldier

If you enjoy living in this country where you have a whole set of laws devoted to a person's rights. Thank a law enforcement officer, a soldier, a sailor, a marine, an airman, or any other of the numerous professionals who willing put their lives on the line for their country.

Liberals have never brought anything to this country except alot of complaning, idiot laws, and higher taxes on everything possible.Any time I read about a stupid law or taxes on something stupid I don't even need to look who is behind it because it is always a Democrat liberal.I know Republicans and Democrats screw up the country equally but at lest with the Republicans I won't be getting higher taxes while they are doing it.

Your liberal heros...Rosie o'donall,Sean penn,Micheal moore,Hugo chavez,Nancy pelosi,anyone who hates America and the Military.

Your Conservitive hero's...Jesus Christ,General patton,Ronald regan, our Military,Country music, and anyone who believes the country is run better with out government sticking it's nose in our business.

They, the liberals have been moving towards building something at 9/11 sit. After eight years all they have is a hole in the gowned. In this period of time 8+ Empire State Building could have been built one after the other.

Liberals never get anything done.

Only the liberals? Puh-leaze. slaphead

The government - Dems. and Repubs. have been moving towards building something. The government - Dems and Repubs. - all they have is a hole in the ground.

Right now all that I'm hearing the Republicans say is "no this, no that" to anything that Obama says. But...they offer no solutions.

People that hear voices where there are none have been my patients.

I try my best to research only unbiased facts. Those facts are what I listen to.

When I hear, "liberals have been moving towards building something at 9/11 sit. After eight years all they have is a hole in the gowned", I'm hearing twisted, biased words and not facts. Both Democrats and Republicans have played a role in that situation.

Jesus was a liberal and todays christians use his name in vain. Todays religious right are much more like the clerics who had him nailed to a cross.

Mr. Winx,

On the eight anniversary the pictures on T V showed a hole in the ground. That is a fact, a hole in the ground. You can try to dirty the water by talking about Democrats and Republicans - facts are Liberals are in charge and after eight years, a hole in the ground.

Just as there is a difference between a small l libertarian and capital L Libertarian, there is a difference between modern liberal and classical liberal. And in-depth article is here-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberalism#Modern_Liberalism

Adam Smith was a classical liberal, for example.

Ms. Winx, btw.

"In the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, with the ruins of the World Trade Center still smoldering, political leaders from New York Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani to President George W. Bush vowed to quickly rebuild the site, bigger and better than before."

"Nobody wants to accept responsibility," said former New York mayor Edward I. Koch. He joined others in laying blame before two chief agencies: the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns the land, and the Lower Manhattan Development Corp., which was created to channel all federal aid pouring in. "It's shameful that they have failed in their responsibility to build this in a measured and responsible way," Koch said."

"The projected costs have soared far above the $15 billion budget, construction is years behind schedule, and Larry Silverstein, the developer of three towers, is locked in a dispute over financing with the Port Authority.

Silverstein wants the Port Authority to back loans to build two of the towers. He has blamed the authority's delays for costing him crucial financing, since private support became hard to find after credit markets froze last year. The matter recently went to arbitration."

The toughest construction job on Earth - the rebuilding of the World Trade Center - is finally showing dramatic signs of progress on the eighth anniversary of the attacks of 9/11.

Giant steel beams framing the iconic 1,776-foot Freedom Tower have soared 105 feet above street level - and enough concrete has been poured into the Sept. 11 Memorial to pave 100 miles of New York City sidewalks.

Long on the defensive for shredding its budget and bungling reconstruction with multi-year delays, the Port Authority invited the Daily News to tour Ground Zero to trumpet its breakthroughs on the 16-acre site.

Accomplishment No. 1: The twin waterfalls, fountains and reflecting pools that define the Memorial are emerging as majestic works of art, while the still-unfinished plaza is ready for the first time to host the victims' families for Friday's observances.

How critical is a timely completion of the Memorial by the 10th anniversary on Sept. 11, 2011?

"All else pales in comparison," PA Executive Director Chris Ward told The News.

Also gracing the site is the "East-West Connector," a striking subterranean passageway 60 feet below the streets of lower Manhattan that will revolutionize the way tens of thousands of New Yorkers commute to their jobs.

A pedestrian shortcut that will transverse the World Trade Center site, its signature element is 55 soaring arches designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.

The PA has already installed 47 of those arches, which will tower above the luminous quarter-mile walkway between the Fulton St. subways and the World Financial Center, officials say.

"A year ago, people were still calling the site a pit," Ward said after a PA board meeting Thursday.

"Well, it's not a pit anymore."

Despite visible progress on the site, there are no completed buildings, terminals or other structures: The budget-busting delays that have dragged on for eight years, fueled by endless squabbling between the PA and developer Larry Silverstein, have taken their toll.
