I'd love to see Brett help win a Superbowl for Minnesota, mainly so I can stuff it in the faces of all these idiot Packer fans I live around that for some strange reason now hate the man. Monier, I wanted to get back to you on this, because you are not the only one I've heard say this. I'm a Packer fan and I don't hate the guy, but most NFL fans don't realize who the real Brett Favre is. They want to believe the whole persona that is perpetuated by the constant media portrayals and exaggerations. How many times do you want to hear: "He plays just like a little kid." (Including temper tantrums) "He REALLY loves the game." (like most players don't?) "He'd play for nothing if you let him." ( I'll let that ridiculous statement speak for itself) He will go down in history as one of the greatest QBs ever, and definitely the toughest to ever play the game. However that does not mean he is without fault. He is loved in Green Bay, but there is a faction of Packer fans that can at least acknowledge the facts. Starting about 5 years ago, we had to endure the prospect of "will he or won't he retire?" after every season. The Packers drafted Aaron Rogers for this reason, and Favre proceeded to treat the guy like ****. Favre began to think he was bigger than the franchise and threw a fit, when they didn't go after Randy Moss when he was available, even threatening to retire over it. When he finally announced his retirement, the coach and GM waited a few weeks, flew down to Mississippi to convince him to unretire. Favre said no thanks. So they went forward with the guy they drafted to replace him. Favre tried to comeback mid-way thru training camp and expected to be handed the starting job, during practice. They told him he would have to earn it, and King Favre threw a fit. After all, he WAS bigger than the team. He then tried to go to Minnesota, and the Packers blocked it, trading him to the Jets. Favre used the Jets for one year, so he could unretire, retire and then unretire once more, in order to circumvent the roadblocks the Packers had put up to try to prevent him from going to a team in their division. All in order to prove them wrong, that he could still play. Nobody ever said he couldn't, they just didn't want him dictating the rules, as NO franchise should ever let ANY player do. He is not the "aw-shucks, good ol' boy, wearing Wrangler jeans" that everyone wants to believe. He is an ego-maniac, along the lines of Terrel Owens. That is why Packer fans don't like him. He has hit the perfect storm, with the Vikings. The best RB in the league, a great defense, and a great offensive line. Trust me, when it doesn't go his way, he will be the first to throw everyone under the bus. You already saw it, at the end of their regular season, when he basically showed everyone that HE is in charge, not the coach, Brad Childress. If the Vikings DON'T win a Super Bowl this year, they will have sold their soul, for nothing. Childress will be gone, and they will be back to having Tavarius Jackson at QB. |

Childress is staying. He got an extension months ago and is very unlikely to be fired if they 'Lose' the Superbowl.
Frankly, I'm happy that the man is doing what he wants. I'm not one of his fans because of his records or where he plays. I'm right there because the man does'nt give up when he has a job to do. Sure he has a monster ego. So do I. I am also very good at what I do and very opinionated about it. Aaron Rodgers is good and will be even better if the future, but he's no Brett Favre. Brett is bigger than the Franchise, ANY franchise. It's incredibly hard for me to be a Packers fan without Brett there. The Orginizations decisions over the past 10 years have made me increasingly sick. Yeah that Randy Moss thing? Did'nt Moss go to New England and help Brady throw 50 TD's and an undefeated regular season? I'd be throwing a fit also!!!! The guy has proven over and over and over again that he DOES know better most of the time than his handlers. Remember the charities he had a part in Green Bay with? There is another record that he holds, like the 4 post season one's he may conquer this weekend. It is a record with the Make a Wish foundation for the most donation of a pro athlete's time. Packer fans forget this though. Actually, it's more like they don't care. This is what they are showing. I heard some Packer fanboi say the other day that if you pull for Brett, then you're not a real Packer fan. It really does seem like a drama with Green Bay playing the ex girlfriend. It was okay for Brett to date New York because they are further away, but being in Minnesota is like dating the ex's sister. Funny funny stuff this is LOL |

It was okay for Brett to date New York because they are further away, but being in Minnesota is like dating the ex's sister. Funny funny stuff this is LOL 1. NO coach is safe, even with a contract extension. His job rides on the shoulders of the Favre deal. If it doesn't work out (SuperBowl win, this year or next year,) he is GONE. 2. The reason the Packers stayed clear of Moss is the same reason every team did. Sure, he's a great WR, but New England got him and went undefeated, except for that little thing called a championship. And now we see the Moss of old, half-stepping and giving up on plays, whenever things aren't going his way. Favre had plenty of receiving tools in Green Bay, as Aaron Rodgers has proven. 3. Any time you let ONE player be more important than the franchise, you lose control of it. If Favre had not been kept in check by Holmgren, he would have never developed into the QB he did. Following Holmgren came Ray Rhodes, who let Favre run things, and they didn't even make the playoffs. Sherman let him run wild, as well. Good winning percentage, until the playoffs. 4. If Favre were on a different team, out of the division, I would wish him the best. I respect what he has done on the field, and what he did for the Pack. But as it is, I hope the Saints rip his arms off, today. Then again, I've always been a Packer fan. Five years from now, Favre will be sitting on a lawn tractor, and the Packers will still be playing. I'm a Donald Driver fan, too. But if he is playing for the Bears next year, I am SURE as hell not going to root for the Bears. |

The Jets go Jets, ppl thought that they wouldn't beat the chargers, but they did,go jets,go go The Jets have nothing to be ashamed of. They gave Mannning and the Colts a run for their money. They have a great defense and a solid running game. They have a good coach and a young QB that seems to really let the game come to him. I didn't see him force anything, until the end. He did make a few bad plays, throwing the ball across the field, but he got away with them. My guess is, the Jets will contend for the AFC championship again, next year. |

I'm not happy now [/quote If someone had told you at the beginning of the year, that you would be losing a hall-of-fame QB and getting a rookie QB and a new coach, but you would still play in the AFC Championship game, with a chance to go to the Super Bowl, you would have been happy. Plus, your team should pretty much stay intact, next year. So don't worry, be happy. |
