If its your first time playing, go with a heavier driver because they usually fly straighter. You're going to do bad because it's your first time playing, but its a really fun game, and the more practice you get, the better it gets. Just have fun and enjoy getting the workout.

JUST LIKE GOLF But easier. Hope you dont mind loosing... it takes a while to learn the throws, the courses, ect. It is fun and a walk in the woods all rolled in to one neat package. and its excercise.

Thank you Inkedman
And rambill, I don't mind losing at all. I wouldn't expect anything more since I have never played. But I could get "beginners luck" |

beginners luck? yup. but it can take years. you have to devlop the right muscles and control.... ect. i have played for about 25 yrs. we used "hubcaps", or old style frisbees back then. Some people use a row of discs for driving, putting, ect, but i prefer just one myself. It seems that women struggle harder at first. Learn to throw straight and you will be ahead of most players......
everyone seems to have a best shot, for xample mine always curve left at the end....... practice some putting action and it will be worth the time..... try to put it on a picnic table or hit a stump or tree in your yard for xtra practice when there isnyt a proper basket around.... yah. oh also, oh wear a hator visor to block the sun, since the couse has all kinds of different shots. take a stroke instead of trying three throws bouncing off trees and rocks to get back on the fariway..... |

I have been practicing with a tree

oh and then theres the "hero throw", where one tries to make the long shot, and ends up in the rhubarb. Sometimes better to make shorter throws that you can control than to coil up and cannon arm one way into the rough... but then to be competitive you must master the long shots.
...when we play, we have long since issued a 6 shot maximum rule, which puts a really bad hole to bed without undue pain and suffering ....lol... |

and one more thing since when did other disc golfers join this site?

I've always enjoyed playing disc golf. I haven't gone for the past handful of years, though, as I cannot seem to locate my discs. I had them all in their own seperate case, and it either got misplaced or lost or stolen since my last move 7 years ago. In any case, I have not been able to locate them.
There are several courses in my area, most of which are built in wooded areas (you're literally walking the course through the woods). I was lucky enough to get a hole-in-one during one session on an very difficult hole. Just a freak happenstance, but I've never seen anyone else make that same hole-in-one before or since. Regular golf (with a golf ball), I've never had any interest in at all. Disc golf is different, for me at least. It's not only the fun of the game, but also the enjoyment of being in the woods, and being in nature. The coolest part is, you can play most of these courses at any time of the year, if you're feeling gutsy. Wintertime is a huge challenge, not only because of the conditions of the weather, or the extra clothing needed to stay warm, but keeping track of your disc! |
