Thinking about this post.

I wonder sometimes if part of the reason so many animals that are in terrible condition continue to suffer is that putting and animal out of their misery is now considered murder and virtually a crime in any situation.

If you take a "critical" animal to a vet or Humane Society they will refuse to uthanize it and do hundreds if not thousands of dollars of procedures to prolong it's life knowing the chance of it being adopted or being able to survive is marginal.

I was surprized that even though an animal is clearly a stray that if you allow it to be on your property or make the mistake of having it in your possesion (to take it to assistance) it is then "your" animal and the burden of proof is on you to prove that the neglect is not your fault. How many people can do that?
