so, near the middle of boot camp, my drill instructors told us with all the hiking we are gonna do,we actually might go down an inch or 2 in height,in ITB we carried alot more in our packs so i feel like i have shrunk, but i havent really checked yet,but i feel it. Is it really possible to shrink a little if your lugging around nearly 100lbs on a 20k? That's right, Tattoo. And it's permanent, too. |

my mom is about four inches shorter than she used to be but she is 75 I think it all went to the hump in her back Osteoporosis will cause a person to lose height, is when your bones get brittle from calcium loss, etc. And they can form a hump on their backs (kyphosis). My mom lost several inches too. |

Actually....the human body loses about an inch in height during the course of a normal day. Your spine compresses a bit over the period of the day. It's recovered when you sleep. It's possible for you to lose an inch or so in height if you are carrying around a lot of weight on a long march. However, it won't stay gone. it's also possible to lose height while pregnant. the hormones make the ligaments more elastic, so you can shrink. after four children, i'm almost a full inch shorter than i was before having babies...and that's even in the morning. |

don't take the red one!! Some how the quote vanished. You will be 10 feet tall. You will be ten feet tall because you are serving this country, growing confidence and learning tons of now life stuff, hopefully including a skill for civilian life. In the face of that what is an inch anyway. Be safe and don't volunteer! |
