Half Moon

Half a moon, half full
If I had half a care
I'd think of you and your
half spun memories

Instead I turn
Toward the stars
only half as bright
as yesterday

I watch and stare
as one half dead star
streaks half way across
the midnight sky

I make half a wish
if the whole came true
this half a life
would be something new

I turn and walk half way
down the lonely beach
I have half a mind
to walk to the end

But half way through
I sit and stare
with half a heart
at the half full moon

And I wonder where the other half might be.

Thanks so much PKD. I took my evening walk, looked up at the moon and the words just popped into my mind with a simple little melody. I had to cut my walk short so I could write it down.
