As I look at other Government run programs (Medi-Care, Social Security, VA..etc) I do not see a good result of Government run programs. Cash for Clunkers is the latest. The Dealerships are not getting paid. The best and brightest doctors and nurses have made this country the best medical country. Turn it into a Government run entity and it will collapse. See you at the doctor's office.

Let us add to this, remember the whole Loan Modification program? So far Banks are fighting it tooth and nail, who is making money right now?

Attorneys, 6 to 10 THOUSAND dollars or more a pop! Should you expect results?

PS to get the money you have to sell your car and buy a new one and you must meet some funky criteria! Do not expect to get squat unless your mileage is less than 18 MPG and you by an Econobucket. Example, Sell your Escallade and get a Honda Civic then you are golden. What is wrong with this picture???

Guess what the Number one SUV is for the cash for Clunkers program??

Ford Explorer!

How about all those Hummers???

We have the most expensive health care in the world that is true but we rank something like 37th in terms of care. We get less bang for our buck than the rest of the free world and most of the third world.

Where does the US rank in Health care?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) the U.S. ranked 37th in 2000. They no longer conduct this survey.

I imagine we have dropped far lower due to all those without insurance since the year 2000.

That is such a load. Why the hell are our emergency rooms filled with illegal immigrants? When the H1N1 scare hit full blown Mexicans FLOODED our hospitals and not Mexican hospitals. Can you tell me why?

The real problem is the bloated cost of health care and thanks to Clinton Era DEREGULATION everything went to crap and prices went through the roof.

Why doesn't everyone have health insurance?

BECAUSE THAT UNTO ITSELF IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN ACTUALLY SEEING A DOCTOR EVERY MONTH! I SURE IN THE HELL CAN'T AFFORD IT!

Look at auto insurance when it became mandatory.

Do you know what Obama's health care system means to the Parasites who don't work, live off of welfare and disability? Free tummy tucks and Boob Jobs!

What inspired ideas do you have before you go off like a Socialist Parrot or Spokeswoman for Socialism?

Obama's plan just does not add up.

Admit it, people from other countries come here because their health care is a nightmare, Canada, England, Mexico, hell they come from everywhere.

First and foremost this is NOT Europe. This is America. We are a lot bigger and deal with a lot more BS. Culturally we are different and our constitution forbids a lot of what Europe does.

Again do not compare us to a country that operates far differently than we do with a MUCH smaller population base.

There are too many leeches that take advantage of programs unnecessarily. You sure like Hypochondriacs don't you?

I got sniffles! I need to go see a doctor! I got a paper cut! I need to see a doctor! I don't feel Happy, I need to see a doctor for some Happy Pills!

Can't you see past the dollars alone to see what this program will inflict on us?

I can't count the number of A@@HOLES that get on disability and ride it like a bicycle because they "can't work" yet they sure seem to have all the time and energy in the world for fun and games. The idea was to support them long enough to rehabilitate them into the work force. Not "free money for life!"

CBS) Americans think the U.S. health care system is in need of major repairs, according to a CBS News/New York Times poll.

Nine out of 10 say the system needs at least fundamental changes, including 36 percent who favor a complete overhaul.

Although most Americans say they are generally satisfied with the quality of their own health care, including 41 percent who say they are very satisfied, it's a different story when it comes to the cost of care.

Just one in five are very satisfied with what they pay for health care, while a majority (52 percent) are dissatisfied, including a third who are very dissatisfied.

Americans are even more critical of health care costs in the nation as whole: 59 percent are very dissatisfied with the overall cost of health care in the U.S. and another 22 percent are somewhat dissatisfied.

Most Americans believe government can play a role in fixing the health care system. Two-thirds say the federal government should guarantee that all Americans have health insurance — and a similar number says providing health insurance for all is a more serious problem than keeping health care costs down.

Eighty-four percent of Americans favor expanding government programs in order to give health insurance to all uninsured children.

Less than one in three, however, say the government would do a better job than private insurance companies at actually providing medical coverage. Forty-four percent said the government would be worse as a health care provider than private companies.

More Americans do think the government can do a better job than private companies at helping hold down health care costs.

Health care promises to be a crucial issue in the 2008 presidential campaign. In a CBS News poll conducted last month, health care tied with jobs and the economy as the second-most important issue facing the country, following the war in Iraq. It was even more important to Democratic primary voters, ranking ahead of the economy and jobs.

In the new poll, the public gives the Democrats a big edge over the Republicans on handling health care issues. Asked which party they believe will best improve the health care system, 62 percent said the Democrats, while just 19 percent said the Republicans.

19%

However, none of the top tier of Democratic presidential candidates has yet to gain a significant national edge on the health care issue.

Six in ten Democratic voters expressed confidence in Sen. Hillary Clinton's approach to health care, but more than half of voters nationally said they're uneasy. Voters overall were also more uneasy than confident about both Sen. Barack Obama and former Sen. John Edwards on health care.

But all three Democratic presidential hopefuls rated higher than the current president on the health care issue. Only 17 percent of Americans said they were confident in President Bush's approach to health care, while 77 percent — including about half of Republicans — were uneasy.

Asked to choose which health care topics they'd like to hear the 2008 presidential candidates talk about over the next two years, 34 percent said providing coverage for the uninsured was most important, followed by 28 percent who said reducing health care costs. Eighteen percent said improving the quality of care and a similar number said improving the Medicare prescription drug benefit.

In all reality the government has no business in health care. Unfortunately any industry without oversight is fraught with corruption. So everyone wants health care given to them? Sorry but I don't have insurance and if I get sick or injured do you know where my help went?

To some illegal immigrants!

I do not buy Obama's plan. Health costs need regulation and oversight. Pharmaceuticals need regulation and oversight. Doctor training needs oversight and regulation so we don't get Dr. Shadetree working on us. Now to force a homogeneous health care plan on us is a recipe for disaster. California raised the sales tax and already consumer spending across the board has slowed down. Now California is propagating its own demise.

Along comes Obama's plan and how much was he raising taxes to support this plan and WHO is he going after????

Seriously, where do you think the money is supposed to come from? We just print it and give it to the banks? Squeeze the rich some more? It all comes out of OUR ***** in the end! Obama has no common sense! So does his health care reform!

As far as where America's Health Care rates..those numbers are skewed. Like comparing apples to oranges. I have never experienced any other countries health care so I think ours is pretty good.

Like AndyB said....we can get treated for a runny nose, a poor sex drive, or a plethora of other "illnesses, and syndromes".

About 40 percent of American adults are not physically active, and nearly two-thirds are overweight or obese. While not everyone can be physically active, many people and reduce their risk of heart disease, diabetes, and some types of cancer by losing weight and exercising more.

The American Lifestyle is why we spend so much on health care.....

I like what I have..jmo Whether ours is the best or better..I do not know. I just have had few complaints with mine quality wise. Cost wise, I agree, it is expensive. So fix that part of it. Don't make wholesale changes to what we currently have. There are 350 plus million people here, 47 million do not have health care. So lets break down that 47 million. How many are unwilling to work, drug addicts, illegal alien parents with anchor babies...etc? Just asking.

For me it's the incredible cost and how fast it's gone up. I accepted a while ago that my options and my budget don't include most policies at my age. I still doubt that 300 million people love their insurance and it's rates as they are now. But again I am so weary of this argument, that every day that passes I care less about it. I only fear for those with a lot longer to live than I do.
