In this year alone; 96 soldiers have taken their own lives. Too stressed....they need to come home.
If you see a soldier in uniform, please tell them thank you and welcome them home when you see them coming back. My baby may be back in Dec or Jan...hopefully; it seems that getting his "staff Sergeant stripes is important to him", not me!!!! So that he may have to stay til February, he needs to stop and come home "and he wants too", it sounds like he may forget about it, but....he is a guy. Damn egos.... |

In this year alone; 96 soldiers have taken their own lives. Too stressed....they need to come home.
If you see a soldier in uniform, please tell them thank you and welcome them home when you see them coming back. I wonder if any of them have a mental illness and still go to combat. I would be willing to bet that some do. I thank them whenever I see them. They go through a lot for our freedom. |

In the UK when a soldier loses his or her life in Afgahnistan or or wherever, they invariably are repatriated to RAF Lyneham.
They are then transported through the village of Wooten Bassett to show their support. The entire town turns out on the street as the courtege passes by. This has now happened over 200 times in recent months. It is a marvellous show of solidarity for troops who have given their lives for the sake of world peace. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I wondering how the suicide rate amongst the military compares to the suicide rate in the general population.
I was surprised to see that its about the same or only slightly higher. 20.2 suicides per 100,000 soldier/sailors and 19.5 suicides per 100,000 civilians so, while anyone taking their own life is sad. there doesnt seem to be this great crisis of soldiers killing themselves off. or at least any worse than the population in general |

I will be sure to thank the soldiers and thank you for reminding us. I hope your son returns home soon. My brother did two tours and they are wanting him to go back. It really is time for this to end.
