Cash for Clunkers has been a huge succsess. It has brought people into the market who would not have been able to afford a new car. It has returned auto workers to work who have been idle and created a market for the steel manufacturers, glass manufactures, plastics and wire harnessess you name it the auto industry uses it. The big uptick of course are those who work and pay taxes are now back to work and off the unemployment lines. This program has been a huge succsess and anyone who says its not is deluded. The Bush admin left this country in shambles and it is takeing drastic measures to shore it up and at least Obama has made an effort unlike the last administration that so fouled everything up.

of course the voice of the Union would say that

the unions are what drove em into bankruptcy in the first place
I think it was the gas prices under the Bush administration.

snort

yeah right

maybe it was the fact that retirement pay and entitlements exceeded actual payroll. And the laid off workers who kept receiving paychecks two years after being laid off. And the free automobiles every six months for all levels of management as per union demands?

maybe it was the fact that the American manufacturers pay was 30% higher than the japanese manufacturers and their product was crappy in comparison?

the union contracts strangled the American manufacturers and that is what drove em into bankruptcy

Thats your opinion and you have a right to one no matter how wrong you are. Did you know that Labor costs are only 10% the cost involved in a car? If the UAW worked for free it would reduce the cost of a car by 10% Do you think anyone should work for free? do you? anyhow I thought you were going to leave the Political threads alone? but glad to see you back anyhow:wink:

I would like to see where it says that this program put all these people back to work. I've heard nothing of the sort. Last I looked unenployment was still rising.

I for one am back to work and that is because the long idled car plants started back up. They were burried in cars due to the high gas prices and peoples lack of disbosable income. Thanks to the democratic congress and president the economy is moveing again. I think we have seen the worst and avoided the total economic collapse that the Bush years led us too.

I guess the borrowed money us taxpayers will have to pay back had nothing to do with it.
I'm so happy to hear all those who used the program to thank the American tax payer and future tax payers for the great deal they got on the car they bought.

It would be pointless top put a lot of dealerships out of business. And I would never be so hopelessly pessimistic to believe that America is Doomed, ever.

And please for heaven sakes educate yourself. No one is advocating the government take over of health care. At least get that much...

Where did I ever say aything about healthcare?
I posted an article in my news paper on how dealerships aren't beeing payed the money for cash for clunkers.
I would appreciate if you would refrain from telling anyone they need to educate themselves.

Well if you were reading the whole thread you would have noticed that my reply was not directed to you at all. If it was I would have quoted you, that is what the Quote thing is for.
