Topic: Restless Leg | |

Common thing for guys. But should be checked out with your MD. Can be a side effect of medication, heat fatigue, or something more serious. Sometimes spactisity can be relieved with eating foods high in potassium; sweet potatoe, apricots, bananas. Drinking more fluids. Not sleeping where there is a draft on the spastic muscles. Not restricting the limbs with heavy covers or dangleing the feet off the end of a recliner or sofa with heavy shoes seems to reduce muscle fatigue. Avoid extreamly hot showers or bath. Frequently it can be treated effectively with a prescription. Good Luck yup, its a side effect of terminal renal failure. no potassium for me. I'm forbidden to eat bananas or apricots or even tomatos or oranges I take requip for it but it doesnt do anything that I can tell |

maybe but if I hover around in that twighlite zone between awake and asleep its REALLY bad. better to just go straight oh-you-tee and skip that phase I think I'm gonna go walk along the highway a bit and see if that helps. its after midnight so there is no traffic. just rattlesnakes coming out for the warmth from the road haha That might help.. Be careful... I hope it goes away... |

I take clonazepam for it, helps me sleep otherwise I wake up off and on all night long from my legs moving around. I don't know if you can take that though.
How about chamomile tea?? It is supposed to be a sedative, I don't know if it has caffeine in it, supposed to be from the mint family. People have used it for years for relaxation and sleep. Sounds miserable, mine isn't that bad. Since you can't take milk/dairy, do you take calcium pills to put calcium in your body?? Sometimes a lack of calcium can cause leg and muscle spasming. They used to use quinine for Charley horse type leg cramps but can't get that anymore, now the docs tell people to try tonic water, but you would have to see what the ingredients are, and be cautious, I don't know what it has in it. |

Do you have any benedryl to help you sleep or lorazapam to reduce muscle spasams? Sometimes that will help in small doses. I would be careful taking vicodene it tends to depress you. This is more distressing from pain or the fact that it is a spasams?

I'm having hep-C issues in addition haha. if its not one thing its your mother I do take Temezapam for sleeping i might double up on that if I have to no no no benadryl makes it ten times worse. some other drugs do to. they had me on Reglan but it made it so bad I couldnt even touch my fingertips together |

it's killing me tonight I'm hoppin around like a one legged tap dancer anybody else suffer from it and any ideers? high up on the sofa,,remember Mork? THATS the LOOK,,ok Now push your leg straight up as your pushing the back of your leg kind-of down, against the front bend of the sofa,,,now hold and rock that leg as the blood leaves it and runs back down,,your feel a tingling sensation in your whole leg as this generates the nerves and once you do this for about 15 minutes,,,,,,Stand and walk a bit,,,then tell me how ya feel....... HINT,,,you want your asss to be as close to the sofa as you can get it,,with preasure pressing against the top back side of that leg, from the 90 degree angle of your leg, on the front part of the sofa. Where the bend in the back of your knee,,,always rests.. Got it????lol I know,,,odd,,,but it works,,,,, |

I am sorry you are suffering. I wish I had the power to lay hands on you and make it better. I do keep you in prayers.
Do you have a Hospice nurse? If you are considered terminal you are a candidate for their services. Then you are more likely to get the comfort medication you need. |

Spasticity is a real drag. I had it so bad at one time I couldn't stand and had to be strapped into a wheelchair.
I actually got pretty good at hypnotizing myself with bio feed back. I found if I tried to relax my body as if I was floating in water and let the spasams mentally ripple out of my body rather than fighting them it seem to lower the anxiety response |
