Topic: A really good hunting dog | |
---|---|
"Joe" bought a raccoon-hunting dog from "Dave". Dave told Joe that this dog was really good and that it would bark the right number of times to tell how many raccoons were up a tree. Joe, being an avid raccoon hunter, was a bit skeptical, but anxious to try. So he took the dog out hunting that very night. In short order, the dog picked up a trail, tracked it, and treed. When Joe got to the base of the tree, the dog sat down and barked one time. Joe shined his light up into the tree to see that, sure enough, there was a set of eyes glowing back at him. He fired the shot and the furry critter fell out of the tree. After rewarding the dog, He started walking through the woods again. Once again, the dog picked up a trail, tracked, and treed. This time, when Joe got to the bottom of the tree, the dog barked 3 times. Again, Joe dropped 3 raccoons. This went on for some time, until about midnight. This time, Joe walked up to the base of the tree to find the dog with a HUGE stick in its mouth, shaking his head and pacing around the bottom of the tree. Thinking that the dog had suddenly gone mad, and not knowing what to do, Joe shot the dog. The next day he called Dave to complain about the dog. Dave, yelled at him, saying,"You idiot! That dog wasn't going mad! He was trying to tell you that there were more raccoons in that tree than you could shake a stick at!"
