Take a look at it.

From the top to the bottom and each bracket in between most if not all are paying taxes.(of one form or another).

Some more other less...

Yet one thing is perfectly clear to my eyes...

Taxation is at saturation.

Representation is little to none.

and taxation is fixin to increase inless we show resolve.

What say you?

The middle class is already sending about 30% of our income to the government as taxes. We cannot afford that and you will see more of the middle class starting to fail if taxes go any higher.

We may have a vote, but you are right, there is very little TRUE representation. Not until we get to vote on more than just representation. They could create a whole new set of jobs by creating a 'voting industry' that would allow people to vote on the issues. Sure it would cost money, but since we wouldn't need as many career politicians, those political salaries could go to fund it.

Well for 35 years I've paid taxes (income tax, sales tax etc). Then through no fault of my own I lost my job 18 months ago. I had to depend on umemployment (which doesn't pay enough to live on; let alone rent and utilities). So I tried to get some help through Public Assistance who said no (for reasons I'm not even going to get into). So I had to resort to my retirement fund to make ends meet which was also tight. I couldn't pay my inocme tax for 2008. Now our government has turned me over to collection -- they don't care either. Taxes suck right now in this world of ours. They tax you on everything. I live in New York and the tax rate is close to 9%.

People out of work who receive unemployment still pay inocme tax if they can afford to have it taken out automatically. It's really sad that people like us don't stand together instead of being like sheep and just take it.

Should we live in slums with the garbage piling up around us causing disease etc? How do you think these things get paid for, phone lines constructed and cleared after storms and the zillion other serices we take for granted. Thanks but I don't want to go back to living in the wilderness....

Combative no actually, sorry if it seemed that way. Just curious. What was the point of your list of taxes if you don't have a problem with them? I rarely think about them, probably because I expect things must be payed for and I enjoy the fact that I don't have to think about all those things that taxes pay for that make my life easier.

Anyway I'm off to bed. Night Adj...

And the sheep are being led to slaughter....

Isn't that the truth? I make little comments to people in my travels (check-out gal in the grocery store, gal at the veterinarian, etc) about the economy or how I'm waiting for some hope and change and it all falls on deaf ears. They become like Stepford wives or robots. Is it fear, apathy, ignorance, too busy? Are they embarrassed of whom they voted(weird sentence)? Whatever it is it's scary and starting to tick me off.

I don,t think you have to go back to the trees to save on taxes ... In the old days the government contracted a lot of our services to save us money but now that we are in the age of strange . we pay more that we have to .. so it would be cheaper to contract it on our own . the lumps at the fire department could be contracted cheaper to if we contracted directly . then all the unempoyable people at city hall won,t have that graft to spread around . don,t ever think you can,t take care of your self better and cheaper the government can ..
you know the government gives test for employment to check there skills but what you don,t know is they only hire the people who fail the test .. its the only thing that could explain the trouble were in .

There is a necessary point of taxation in order to cover many services that cannot be performed efficiently otherwise. Sewer for private use can easily be privatized. Certain utilities like power and water essentially have to be regulated but have no problem being privatized.

There are some public services that are required like road maintenance, sewer in public areas, etc.

What we do not need is taxes to cover crap like social programs that do not do anything but keep the poor poor or pork projects paid by the feds. the states and cities should take care of those themsleves. We can easily cut a very large portion of the budget by cutting the crap. more taxes is not the answer.

Look up the bell curve and taxation. yes, it's a conservative economic ideal, but it's the real world truth.

Last I checked the Phone Company is not a government agency...

But you do pay a federal line charge (tax) to the phone company for use of the air.

far from it. social programs are actually a very, very large portion of the yearly budget. social security, welfare, medicare, etc are all social programs i think we can do without. pork is just a drop in the bucket but it all has to go so we can start digging out of this hole.

social security and medicare are not social hand out programs

fica stands for federal insurance contribution act

those are programs you paid for your total working life in the private sector

and if they would quit stealing the fica money and using it for the general fund it would not be in trouble now

they sent a lot of union peole to jail for misusing pension fund money (why is congress permitted to do it)

Are you really paying taxes if you aren't earning the money that goes to them?
