Where I live if an earthquake hits and the Wasatch Front collapses, we would all just be pretty much sol anyway, cause were all sitting ducks here in the valley surrounded by mountains...big mountains.

I lived there, and that is true.

No one mentioned volcano. I guess no one was in Washington when St. Helen's went up. Even around 350 miles away, where I was, it shut down schools and some businesses. At least we has no issues with water or power, but closer areas that were outside of the devastation were not so lucky.

Earthquakes, avalanches, fault lines, tornadoes, fire from lightning...some things can't be escaped, no matter how much planning you go into it with.

Deal with a natural disaster like Louisvill's flooding, California's fires, or Georgia's tornadoes? What have you done to prepare to survive and recover from a major disaster?

I'd grab Phuque2 & stuff him in my pocket...he's an expert at survival tactics... laugh

If there is pre-warnings of a coming diaster I would immediately leave, even if I had to walk out. When I lived in Texas people would stay on Galveston Island when numerous warning had been given to leave the island when hurricanes were pending. They would have TV interviewers talk to the people staying and the people would say "No, we are just going to stay and ride it out!!!!!. Talking about being foolish.

I don't think I worry that much about survival just don't want to be miserable waiting for services ect. to be brought back on line.

I agree some of the people who stay when they are told to leave ahead of potential disasters are idiots. It sucks being displaced but I think when the state ultimately has to risk other peoples lives to try and rescue them or pay catestropic expenses for injuries or to recover a corpse it burns me.

i was living in Houston in 82 and we had a big hurricane come in through Galveston, you couldn't get those people out of there with a crowbar..they are just rooted and no matter what they hang in till the bitter end..
