Keith Olbermann to Expose Congressional Opponents of Universal Health Care Tonight!

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

We've just received an advance transcript of tonight's Special Comment by Keith
Olbermann on his MSNBC show ( http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/ ). It is nothing
short of brilliant -- and if all of America were to hear what he is going to reveal
tonight, we are certain the vast majority of Americans would be on the phone to
their elected representative immediately, calling for an end to the private,
for-profit, rip-off health insurance companies who have wrecked our country.

Here's a brief section of Keith's editorial tonight:

"Congressman Mike Ross of Arkansas. Leader of the Blue Dogs in the House.
You're the guy demanding a guarantee that Reform won't add to the deficit. I'm
guessing you forgot to demand that about, say, Iraq. You're a Democrat, you
say, Congressman?

"You saw what Sandy Barham said? Sandy Barham is 62 years old, she's got a bad
heart, and she's hoping her valves will hold together for three more years until
Medicaid kicks in, because she can't afford insurance. Not just for herself,
mind you. For her employees. She needs the public option. So do those six
people who work at that restaurant of hers, Congressman Ross.

"And why should you give a crap? Because Sandy Barham's restaurant is the
Broadway Railroad Café, and it is at 123 West First Street North in Prescott,
Arkansas. Prescott, Arkansas, Congressman Ross. Your home town. You are Sandy
Barham's congressman. Hers, Sir. Not Blue Cross's and Blue Shield's, even if
they do insure 75 percent of the state and they own you."

And here's what Keith has to say about Senator Thune: [added]

"Senator John Thune of South Dakota? You gave the Republican rebuttal to the
President's weekly address day before yesterday. You said the Democrats' plan
was for '... government run health care that would disrupt our current system,
and force millions of Americans who currently enjoy their employer-based
coverage into a new health care plan run by government bureaucrats.'

"That's a bald-faced lie, Senator. And you're a bald-faced liar, whose bald
face is covered by… your own health care plan run by government bureaucrats."

Don't miss his show, live at 8pm ET. Rebroadcast at 10pm and 1am.

right... because we all know Mr. Sportscenter to be all fair and balanced. There are two sides to every decision and in every decision, someone wins and someone loses. While 47 million win in this case, odds are, the other 250 million of us lose in one way or another - most just don't realize it yet.

I'm sorry to say but her lack of health care is just that: her problem. I didn't have healthcare for two years and I still ended up in the ER once and urgent care at least twice... i arranged payments with the hospital and took care of my business. personal responsibility goes a long way. we have moved further and further on as a nanny state ever since the New Deal. The more dependent we become, the harder it will be to give up when it all goes terribly wrong.

It's time to man up and stop asking for handouts.

Did he show proof... In this naming?

Mr. Oberman... His only appearent qualification for the job is he hates everyone, is loud and obnoxious...

Him and Rachael Madow are the main reason I stopped including MSNBC on my round of News shows...

Way to slanted.

No one can say that Govenment Health care will be better than what we have. But it will cost a lot more to make sure that the 47 million uninsured have insurance. Maybe many of the 47 million do not work, or are not legally here. jmo

Fix the problems, do not start over from scratch. Government run entities usually are a failure. On a 300 million people scenario.jmo

He named those on the republican and democratic side that have taken huge contributions and donations from the health and insurance industry.

He would have a huge law suite on his hands if it was found that he accused them of taking these contributions if they had not. I believe what they take in is public knowledge.

Are those of you against a public option saying that they don't think the health and insurance industry is lobbying against this public option? That they have not given these law makers millions in contributions to further the industry's agenda, which right this moment is to stop this?

Entertainer not Newsperson... Most of TV mouths are just that... Entertainers, placed on screen to make a point... Scripted entertainment designed to get people swayed one way or the other (the ratings are more important than the news to them).

He made a mistake here:

"You saw what Sandy Barham said? Sandy Barham is 62 years old, she's got a bad heart, and she's hoping her valves will hold together for three more years until Medicaid kicks in, because she can't afford insurance. Not just for herself, mind you. For her employees. She needs the public option. So do those six people who work at that restaurant of hers, Congressman Ross."

In three more years it won't be Medicaid kicking in ....it will be Medicare.

Like Fox/faux news. I watch all kinds of different "slants" to get around to closer to the truth.

Sadly, not, just letting them die is not a valid answer.

You cannot get a heart transplant without having insurance or millions so they die without care.

I'm a big girl, I can decide if what the 'entertainer' is saying is true or not. The fact is that they don't get these contributions and donations for nothing. If you take the donation and then do the opposite I would wager they won't be contributing again any time soon.

The pharmaceutical companies and insurers etc aren't going to contribute to people they think are going to go against their agenda.

The point is that there is a vested interest for some in washington to bring this down. I think it's a mistake to ignore what is said on the news no matter how it's said or how it's scripted.

I wouldn't watch Oberman if he were the last show on TV. He is definitely not a journalist, just a commentator like all the rest. I do like to watch Morning Joe on MSNBC and that's about it on that station of news programs. the healthcare system is going to be f--- up if this Congress puts through what Nancy Pelosi wants. I worked for the govt for 30 years and I am thankful I have a retirement of some sort and health insurance that's $150 a month, but that's about it. There was so much bureaucratic bull all the time, it was stressful. I've seen the messes they make out of programs and it scares me to death to think they want to take over another part of our lives. Just look at what they've taken over already with Medicare and SS. They need to fix the systems that we have already and come up with something different for the "legal" citizens who don't have insurance. Some of those people choose not to buy insurance and spend their money on other things. Whatever they come up with you and I as a taxpayer will be the ones paying the bill anyway, no matter what Obama says about taxes. I am sick and tired of both sides. I want them all out of office.

Well Morning Joe would certainly show where you are at on the issues.

Personally I see Oberman commenting on the self righteousness and selfishness of those in congress that rail against the bails outs then turn around, take them for their own states. Or about the leaders that rail against a public option in health care, but don't mind taking money from the health industry who's sole purpose is to stop the conversation.

So you worked for the gov for 30 years, and though it had problems you are grateful for your 'government retirement benefits' and your 'inexpensive government insurance'? Oh and I imagine you won't be giving back your SS when the time comes....
