Unfortunately Mirror, the Presidency has been a joke as of the last few decades. Clinton, Lewinsky...Bush and Iraq...Obama and Health care....Carter and Iran...
Ross had as many qualifications as the rest. As far as VP's, Quayle, Biden, Gore...and on and on. another Joke. |

I remember him. Can't say I've heard anything about him in a long time. I think there could be some sort of conspiracy behind that. Those that pose a threat seem to get ripped apart then you never see them in politics again. Ross Perot had a massive ego, unlikely that he did anything but get back to business. Do you remember the old man he had speak for him, who was so senile? I think that about wrapped it up for him. He certainly was a character and I liked some of the stuff he suggested, but he was too out there for most americans to relate to I think. Could be wrong, but as far as him being ruined, not a chance. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() LOL. I don't think you get to be as wealthy as Ross by being a nice guy, but I am fairly certain he would not have taken us to war the way that Bush did anyway. Though fiscally I think he probably would have been ruthless. |

Some Americans don't like it when your too honest. Gore, intelligent, but again some Americans don't like intellectuals. God forbid they say something that they can use against him. The guy was a geek and boring as hell giving a speech, but he was intelligent. |

Perot's paranoia is pretty well known, due to his announcement in 1992 that he was quitting the presidential race (in which he was a very strong contender) because Republican's were planning to disrupt his daughters wedding (by forging photos of phony lesbian sex.) But it has long been typical of him. He thinks he lost his 1993 debate to Al Gore because Gore had a hidden earpiece, through which he was being fed answers, or possibly questions. (Posner, p330). While he was serving on a Texas anti-drug commission in the early 1980s, he became convinced that Charles Harrelson (the father of actor Woody Harrelson, from "Cheers") had been hired to kill him by drug dealers. (The elder Harrelson is in fact a career criminal doing time for killing a federal judge.) The FBI dismissed his fears as baseless. In 1992, Perot claimed that the North Vietnamese government had hired the Black Panthers to assasinate him, back in 1970, because of his efforts on behalf of POWs. He even said that "one night they had five people coming across my front lawn with rifles", and that a guard dog bit a big piece out of one attacker's butt. However, Harold Birkhead, the man who ran security (including the dogs) at Perot's house at the time, says he never saw or heard about anything like that. And Paul McCaghren, who headed Dallas police intelligence in 1970, also dismisses the notion. "... it did not happen. There were only about 8 people here [in Dallas] that belonged to the Black Panther party. Two of those people worked for us, and they told us every day what was happening." (Posner, p66) Just before Perot's 1993 debate with Gore, he announced that the FBI had alerted him that a six-member Cuban hit squad had been sent to murder him. "The organization is a Mafia-like group in favor of the North American Free Trade Agreement", Perot claimed. (Posner, p327-8) The FBI had told him about an anonymous tip that he would be assassinated, but public figures get weird threat calls all the time. What is striking is that Perot believed the claim, embellished it and announced it publicly. http://www.realchange.org/perot.htm |

Well after that I guess it's safe to say I thought he was more than a bit nuts.

Well after that I guess it's safe to say I thought he was more than a bit nuts. yes...perhaps he was just a bit nutz... ![]() ![]() it seems, so far, that being just a "tad" nutz is not all that bad, IMO... I have questioned the sanity of many of the decisions that have taken place over the years... I actually think that there needs to be a very savvy business person in the government to run the financial stuff, and then they can hire other savvy people to do the other savvy things...like the wars and things... Think about it...the government would have made a killing on wall street and then sold out prior to the crash...America would be rich!! just like Perot! Did I mention that I have little to no love for politics? and that I cannot accept that some of the most 'intelligent' people have turned this country into a mess? What is being a "tad" nutz gonna hurt?? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Though fiscally I think he probably would have been ruthless. Ever think of the power all that money he had would have done for us? Think of it this way, how much money do you think it would take to bribe a billionaire? And unlike Obama, (or bush), he would owe hardly anyone, anything, as he, himself, paid for the majority of his campaign... Besides, i may not know much about him, but i still have yet to hear why he was so "nuts". Lemme guess. He didn't want a Federal reserve anymore? He wanted to cut back on big government? He wanted to reduce government spending? Increase state's decision making powers? Decrease taxes? Not sure if he had any of those ideas, but perhaps if he did, we should question ourselves why he might have thought them to be a good idea... |

Personally his personality alone seemed nuts to me, not what he did or didn't want. That didn't mean that I didn't pay attention to what he proposed, just thought he was more than a bit whacked just in the way he acted. Just an opinion, not fact of course.. |

This would be a good one for the "conspiracy freaks" to look into.
Perot could have been a plant for the DNC to draw votes from Bush or maybe there is truth to his accusation about republicans discrediting him. I remember him to seem "erratic" at times. |
