(AP) San Antonio police are continuing their investigation into the gruesome murder of a 3 1/2-week-old infant found stabbed and decapitated in his home.
San Antonio police spokesman Joe Rios identified the baby as Scott Wesley Buchholtz-Sanchez, born June 30. Rios said the baby's mother 33-year-old Otty Sanchez, of San Antonio, will be charged with capital murder. Otty Sanchez was taken to a local hospital Sunday with self-inflicted stab wounds to her chest and stomach. A spokeswoman at University Hospital in San Antonio said she couldn't release information on Sanchez's condition, but Sgt. Wes McCourt said her wounds didn't appear to be life threatening. Rios said Sanchez was sitting on the couch "screaming that she killed her baby" when police were called to the home around 5 a.m. Sunday. "She mentioned that someone or something told her to do it, she was hearing voices. So that leads us to believe that she was experiencing some type of mental crisis," Rios said. "The baby had obviously been decapitated." McCourt said she told investigators that the devil told her to kill her son. The infant's body was found mutilated in a bedroom. He likely died earlier Sunday morning, police said. A woman who answered the phone Sunday at the Bexar County Medical Examiner's office said she couldn't release information about the baby's cause of death. Investigators took a sword, a machete and a kitchen knife from the home. Officers also found two children unharmed at the home, though it wasn't immediately clear where they were taken. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/07/27/national/main5190671.shtml |

I see a pretty good case for "crazy" here. So so true. But in Texas I don't think they execute "crazy" people, what this woman did to this precious angel is unforgivable, crazy or not,JMO |
I can't think of any state that would execute someone proven to be legally insane.
a heinous act
a b.s. excuse (jmo/devil made me do it) |
I suspect she will have a hard time with the insanity defense since she has no history of it...but that is JMO
it takes someone with mental problems to do something like this...but that doesn't make them legally insane IMO |
are they called legally insane without any prior history?
are they called criminally insane as they performed a criminal act? just hope they go straight to jail and don't get to pass go and collect $200 |
this is the definition. while I think she could use this...I don't think should IMO
A defense asserted by an accused in a criminal prosecution to avoid liability for the commission of a crime because, at the time of the crime, the person did not appreciate the nature or quality or wrongfulness of the acts. http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Criminally+insane |

they don't "escape" punishment. Most proven insane spend their lives in a mental ward...I think
Which can be a holiday vs certain jails. This child didn't have a chance, why should she?

that's how our system works though I understand the argument for it (whether I agree or not)
The theory is that they don't really "know" right from wrong at the time so they can't be held responsible like someone that did it out of malice |

hey....I'm just giving what the defense would give. Not saying I agree with it
