Every Muslim's submission to the will of Allah is based on the five
'pillars of Islam', as proclaimed by His Prophet Mohammed (may peace be upon Him): The first pillar is Sha'haddah, the profession of faith: "There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is His Prophet". The second pillar is Salah or prayer, which provides the Muslim with direct communion with Allah five times a day. The third is Zakah, the obligatory payment of alms to the poor. The fourth is Siyam, the obligatory fasting during daylight hours throughout the Holy month of Ramadan (when the Holy Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet). Last is the fifth pillar: Al-Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca and its holy places during Dhul Hijjah, the closing month of the Islamic year. |

hmm i've heard siyam spelt sawm ... thats how i learned it anyways.. i
don't know if you are Islamic Bel.. but i was conversing with another in forums who decided to say the shi'ite muslims have 9 pillars.. i know 9 is a sacred number to them; however, i never learned about 9 pillars.. i was wondering if you had.. i personally don't think much of the person who was arguing it though.. especially since he declared muslims don't worship the same god as jews and christians but they worship a sand spirit.. lol... but i'm not a follower and def. haven't done extensive research so jut wondering if you knew anything about it. |

I always thought that ‘Allah’ was just another name for ‘God’.
I know that it is a Arabic word. In fact, I even thought that Arabic people who might convert to Christianity would continue to call god ‘Allah’. I mean, it’s not like it’s a proper name like ‘Fred’ or something, it’s just the Arabic word for ‘god’. In fact, it was my understanding (albeit I’m not into studying languages), that there were African people who also use the word ‘Allah’ to mean ‘god’, yet their idea of god was totally different, bordering more on pantheism or a view of nature as god similar to the way the American Indians believed. They certainly weren’t thinking of god in terms of the God of Abraham. These are just my thoughts. Like I say, I'm not into studying languages. |

Praise Alla is what they were saying as they flew 2 planes into twin
towers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

In the name of Christ is what they were saying as they burned down the
walls of muslim cities during the crusade. Because the name is misused doesn't destroy its true meaning. If you as a Arabic Christian the name of god they will say Allah. It is what their bible says. |

What people have misused the names for does not negate their meaning...
they are still who they are. |

"Praise Alla is what they were saying as they flew 2 planes into twin towers." This shouldn't reflect back on muslims anymore than the Klu Klux Klan should refect back on Christianity. There are many mad men who have done things in name of Christ. Look at Jim Jones, and David Koresh! And I'm sure there are many many others who have murdered in the name of the Christian God. But that shouldn't reflect back onto the religion as a whole. |

KU Klux Klan? they are simply racist...not sure that that is
Christainity. I will agree with you that the people that flew those planes into the Towers were radical extremist. So far as Branch Davidians and Jim Jones goes, weren't they Cults? |

Christianity has absolutely nothing at all to do with the Klu Klux Klan, but many of the members of the Klu Klux Klan were indeed practicing Christians. In fact, probably the overwhelming majority of them were. But it’s the same thing with the terrorists who flew into the WTCs. They may have individually been ‘Muslims’, but there’s no way that any respectable Muslin would condone what they did. I mean the Muslim religion isn’t about flying planes into civilian buildings anymore than Christianity is about racism. |

Aye cults but they did it in the name of Jesus.
What a shame to use this Name. Just as does those that profane His name When they cry 'Allah' as they kill and wreak havok. This was a messge from the Prophet Mohmamhad to the his people and to the Christians. "This is a message written by Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, far and near, we are behind them. Verily, I defend them by myself, the servants, the helpers, and my followers, because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against anything that displeases them. No compulsion is to be on them. Neither are their judges to be changed from their jobs, nor their monks from their monasteries. No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims' houses. Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God's covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they (Christians) are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate. No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight. The Muslims are to fight for them. If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, this is not to take place without her own wish. She is not to be prevented from going to her church to pray. Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants. No one of the nation is to disobey this covenant till the Day of Judgment and the end of the world." Therefore to strike out against Christendom is agains the words of their own Prophet. |
