My body has decided to let me know in no uncertain terms that it is NOT as young as it once was.
The other day, my dog (a siberian husky mix) decided he'd been good long enough and escaped - he broke his leash while I was loading him into the van, and took off at top speed. I had no choice but to pursue, because he was not obedience trained by his previous owner and a mere whistle to stop him just makes him laugh and keep running. To make matters worse, the fair is in town, and the fairgrounds aren't far from where I live. He's a very friendly dog, but his size and the fact that he looks very wolf-like doesn't help when people see him for the first time. He led me on quite a merry chase through the park, then through the fairgrounds, then back to the park. I have not had to run at that speed for that distance since my high school track days, and I was doing it in sandals to boot. He finally made the mistake of splashing into the creek after some ducks, and I was able to tackle him there before he could get back out of the water. Was a less than dignified walk back, as the creek bed is solid mud & sucked off my sandals, and my flying tackle had me landing almost face first in reeking creek mud. I had to try to maintain dignity while covered in mud from head to toe, barefoot, and leading an unrepentant dog who was also completely filthy. Today, I have hardly been able to move, lol. It hurts to walk, so I canceled my plans for this evening and haven't moved from the couch much all day. I know people say that you're only as old as you feel, but my brain and my body are apparently in disagreement as to what age that is! |

OMG I think I would have killed that dog! LOL I know what you mean though. I finally bought me a weed eater today (I have not had one for 2 years since my divorce) and decided to get my yard cut. Well every muscle in my body is pissed off and retaliating! Getting old truly sucks!

Instead he got a bath - in his eyes, that's a fate worse than death, so I got my revenge :) I know what you mean about the yard work, too. I stay very active, but there are some things that I just can't do anymore without feeling it the next day! |

No need to apologize, lol - all my friends were in tears when they heard. Even had one tell me that he was surfing YouTube in the hopes that some of the fair-goers got my tackle/mud splattering on camera :)
I'm cool with the aches and pains. I view them as proof that my younger years weren't spent sitting on a sofa! |

Please tell me you have pictures? None that I am aware of, hehe. I'm sure there were plenty of camera phones around the grounds, but thus far I have not seen any make an appearance anywhere :) |

Wait til you wake up one morning and your shoulder hurts, Back aches, Knee feels like it was hit by a baseball bat. And all you did was go to sleep the night before.
