Its awesome to see the diverse array of people here. Its fascinating to me that no matter what it may be, we all have something that we care deeply about and compels us to embrace the day and push forward toward a dream, financially lucrative or not.

There is a fine line between passion and obsession, however.

At what point does a passion become an obsession? And is obsession inherently negative?

I'm passionate about being creative... be it writing, painting, working with wood, sewing/quilting, or photography. Music is another passion of mine... it leads me to be creative by morphing my mood.

I'm also a bit of nut about fairness and compassion... for the underdog, animals, the forgotten cause, etc.

There is a very fine line between passion and obsession... but really, it is a matter of perspective. I think that people put a negative slant on obsession because they can't grasp that someone could be so passionate about something. In their lack of vision, they see that passion as being all encompassing and become jealous. IMO.

I'm guessing I'm probably obsessed with serial killers, I don't see it as a bad thing...I mean it's not like I'm eating people...err, that just doesn't seem to sound right, heh...I'm normal?happy

Like anything else, it's a trade-off. What great artist wasn't obsessed? Part of the genius, I think.

I do not think that obsession is always a negative at all...

it would depend I suppose on the obsession...and it would depend even more so about the compulsions concerning the obsession!!

and then...what if you are really passionate about the obsession and you are compulsive too!!

I am not sure that they are always inclusive of each other...I know that you can be obsessive with something and not compulsive about it, I would also venture to say that you do not have to be passionate about the obsession...which would depend on the definition I suppose...

I firmly believe that a person should have at least one thing that they are totally and completely stoked and excited about, something they look forward to engaging in and makes them feel alive.

For me its being artistically creative first and foremost...but its also the thrill of what lies around the next corner, the next trip to somewhere new, the next film or inspiring book, the next inspiring thrill, the next song that gives me goosebumps, the next time my hair stands on end, the next composition or idea that comes pouring out of me. Just the next anything really.

What lights your fire? And is it something lucrative that you are able to make a living at?

I wish I were creative or artistic but I am truly passionate about:

Raising my daughters to be strong, responsible, independant women.

Being the best at my job and helping those around me be better at theirs.

Becoming the best person I can be and making sure the people I love know I love them.

Very simple things really.

Im passionate about my work.
I work for a Domestic Violence shelter and child advocacy center.
My passion is driven from my self experience and I aim to work with other agencies to end the cycle of violence some day.
I probably wont see it but I can hope that even if my children never see the cycle completely gone in the world, that they can live by example the way I am to show others how to end the silence.

I'm passionate about life and love.. I live everyday like it will be my last. Always tell my friends and family how much I love them, do good things for others, volunteer at the veterans clinic... believe me when I say "what goes around, comes around, sometimes two fold". I love the same way, Anyone in my life will know how much they are loved!! flowerforyou

the special love, and friends in my life, helping others, inventions, travel, being a visionary in design, for others to enjoy, if i'm allowed to be humble while doing it, and to live life and experience as much as i can here, in and out of body, and to go on after this with new knowledge to go through the rest of immortality with, blundering and learning as i go.....

Music is one of my passions. I love to play the piano. I also like to make things, like jewelry with my hands. I am passionate about trying to make things better for those who are not as fortunate as myself. I love cats...can't explain why...just love them.
