Wikipedia says..."The sciatic nerve (also known as the ischiatic nerve) is a large nerve that begins in the lower back and runs through the buttock and down the lower limb. It is the longest and widest single nerve in the body."

[So I am going to say, even though I only clicked over here to get out of that other thread bc that lady scares me....]

A back massage would work
Or a nice warm shower where you just stand and let the water hit that spot
Or...elbow your kneecap and it will make your mind forget about the pain there and you will forget about it

Pretty sure. I've done research and it fits my symptoms best: Sharp pain in my lower back, mostly on the left side. Hard to walk, especially after sitting, but feels much better after sleeping. Feet fall asleep pretty fast, especially the right one, and when I move that foot a certain way, my back goes crazy pain.

The random "pick up" amidst my story.

I get in trouble a lot in here for "hi jacking" threads

and...well...that would suck

know what I mean? So if that thread is a "only post one friggin sentence and lets not use the left brain bc we are robots" thread then I wanted to find where else I could talk to u....and a thread you made would be good, cuz then I could say what I wanted...since it is yours and only you can yell at me bigsmile

If it is your sciatic nerve, it is likely located about the top of your hip bone and possibly your lower back, will cause spasming into your lower back and/or down your affected leg and can also cause burning down the affected leg from the nerve irritation.

Try ice and/or heat to the painful area.
Anti-inflammatories help too. (Ibuprofen, Aleve, Advil, something like that may help until you get into your doctor.)

You really need to go to a doctor though, they can give
you muscle relaxants which should help and possibly some
pain meds if the pain is that severe.

Sciatica pain can last for days or months, so the sooner
you get checked out the better. (Mine went on for 4 months -
started with a herniated disc in my back but it did go away finally.)

Massage can be helpful, but get a correct diagnosis first.

LOL! I LIKE you!

I'd be a whole lot more verbose on here except that I'm sleepy, so my brain is in half-time mode atm.

Thank you. :) But unfortunately, like 99% of Americans (especially now),I don't have insurance, so seeing a doctor isn't really a possibility at the moment.

I lived in Spokane for 4-1/2 years before moving to this side of the state. If you were here you could be seen on the "sliding fee scale" - if people don't have any income, they get seen/treated for free or almost free, even covers surgeries and childbirth.

I don't remember if there were any free clinics in the area.

The numbness in your leg needs to be watched, could be a pinched nerve. Might be worth running up a doctor bill to get it checked, just in case. My sciatica caused my leg to feel on fire 24 hours a day, was driving me nuts. Emergency rooms can't turn you away, but then you have a higher bill too. Sorry, wish I had an answer.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you. I mean that. :) There are Chas clinics here, but I looked them up and they say you have to have proof of your income -- how you are supporting yourself. I'm really just getting by atm till I find a job, so... Pfft. How do you prove that?

I was GOING to find a job, till this damned back issue. Murphy is an ***. grumble

If need be, I'll ER it, but I hope not to have to. Please God?

Go sell your soul to a monkey

Its as logical as a girl saying NO to you when she "checks" you out 3 times after you use a "pick up line."

bigsmile

Just take what you have for proof. If you are in pain, I don't know if they will turn you away. ER's are more expensive but by law cannot refuse to treat you. I hope you feel better soon. I remember the pain, it was awful.

I have just the opposite, working 1-1/2 jobs and took on a 3rd job as a favor to a friend last week, pulling an all-nighter to try to get the typing done, somebody shoot me, damn!!!!

WOW! Yeah, I'll be there soon. Kinda enjoying the peace for now -- cept for this damned back issue. I have five kids, but they're with their dad right now for a year. I'll be starting grad school in the fall to get my Masters in Literature, and HAVE to get a job before this month is over.

SOOO... yeah. Enjoying the peace while it's there. laugh
