Yes! I teach Pre-school and one of my students broke his arm on the playground. So I called 9-1-1 and had the ambulance come. I rode with him to the hospital, it was both his and my first ambulance ride!

Have used it several times.
When my dad was living with me and he would fall, would have to call for the Fire Department guys to come help lift him off the floor. I couldn't do it by myself. Used it for ambulances a few times when he was sick. Have homeless cabins on the next block up (owned by the county) and they have had some hellaceous fights -- so have called 911 on occasion to break up a fight. Pretty bad when I live about 1/4 block away and their fights are drowning out the TV and I can't hear anything in my own house, only their obscenities and furniture crashing, etc. In the early 80s, used it when neighbors were beating on their wives, one was pregnant. Yup, I use it when it is appropriate. |

unfortunately i've been the reason for the call a few times. that's never fun.
the most recent time i called was because i was at an intersection and saw a guy pass out so i hopped out to help. a pedestrian in this city is weird enough (too huge to get anywhere without driving) but one wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up in 103 degree heat is really bizarre. |

I used it twice a couple years ago while at school...a special needs student who suffered a drop seizures started turning blue on me. Another time a different student was also having a seizure, parents couldn't be reached so I called 911 as instructed in the girl's health plan. (That was my first time in an ambulance as I rode to the hospital with the girl...she's been in them hundreds of times.)
