If my interpretation of your post is correct then I'd have to say that there is no great difference when compared to peoples honesty/dishonesty IRL.Of course there's the luxury afforded of anonymity for the surfer on the net.

some people lie on the net for many reasons...just like in real life. they may be insecure and trying to impress. they may be hiding something. could be many reasons...but I'd never go after someone once I catch them in a lie. IMO....the trust is gone and has to be earned back
