I scratched my eye last night on some velcro, its red an burns really bad. Anyone know something I can do to help it? I have been using eye drops but it don't really help.

Hmmm, (prescription)  take 2 aspirins, and call me in the morning!
Just kidding...Velcro huh? Hmmm, irradiated eye, wow. If the surface of the eye is damaged or scratched...you may have to let a Dr, recommend a salve or something. I burnt mine, while sitting in front of a sun lamp for several hours...and you talking about scratchy(whoa), anyway...had to have a prescription salve administered with bandage for a couple of weeks...never do that again!

I did some reading an "sclera" is the part I scratched. They say I should go to the doctor in case of an infection. My insurance don't cover the eye doctor. I try not to rub it, it waters ever now an then.

your eyes aern't something to mess with, I'd go see an eye doc if at all possible. Best of luck

I try not to rub it, it waters ever now an then. If it were me, and I wasn't going to go to the Dr...I would continue to use the eye drops, it does have some healing effects to it. At least maybe it will help in staying the course and give it time to heal/correct it's self. Maybe put/wear a patch on the eye in question, for a while. Maybe by keeping it closed...will help in the healing! Who knows? Note:...I'm not a real Dr, I only play one on TV!(not really) These are only suggestions. Hope all goes well for you.

I was shooting arrows an had the arm guard in my hand, went to scratch my face an the corner of the velcor scratched my eye.

When I scratched mine several years ago I went to the ER never went to and Eye Doctor after the ER just went to my regular Doctor.
Honestly I would say go to the Doctor they will give you drops with meds in them don't play around with your eyes....

Don't, I repeat DO NOT use eye drops.
Get some bacitracin and saline or murine eye drops. No other kind. Flush your eye with the saline or drops, and apply the bacitracin to the corner of your eye with a sterile q-tip or other sterile applicator, and then wash your hands thoroughly and close that eye, gently moving your eyeild to get the ointment on the area. Do this twice a day, morning and night. Try WebMD to verify. But DO NOT USE VISINE or other similar drops. |
